Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have been a power couple in the sports community for a long time. Indeed, they are the couple goals for many out there, and the pair is just adorable for the fans. However, back in December 2023, the NFL star caught himself in a bit of controversy when he gave a bold remark about his relationship with Biles, stating, “I always say that the men are the catch.”
The community was totally not happy with Owens due to his comment. The situation escalated into a significant controversy, with many fans demanding a divorce and suggesting Biles to take action in response to her husband’s remarks. However, it’s been a long time now since the controversy, and recently the NFL star acknowledged his wife to be above him, drifting away from the remarks he made before.

Despite the numerous challenges life has thrown at Owens and Biles, from long-distance relationships to facing significant backlash from critics, they have never felt apart from themselves. Both of them have been together in their ups and downs and have always been supportive, despite their many differences.
During an interview with Sports Illustrated on Instagram, both Owens and Biles made an appearance. They were asked many questions, but one caught the attention of the couple: “Who is the best athlete?” The answer to this question? The American gymnast burst into laughter when Owens simply pointed toward Biles, not even taking the mic from her. Indeed, he was fully committed to supporting his wife, acknowledging her as the superior athlete in their relationship.
Furthermore, clearing his opinion, Owens shared his thoughts, stating, “I’m not doing no backflips.” Indeed, he pointed out that his wife is none other than the GOAT of gymnastics. And the stuff that she has delivered throughout her stellar career is something that will take a lot of time for him to reach that level. It’s not that Owens isn’t a great NFL player; it’s just that he adores his wife, and like last time, he doesn’t want to create any misunderstandings in the community.

Indeed, that controversy almost made Biles go through a mental breakdown, about which she revealed back then, stating, “I thought everything was OK, and then I go on Twitter and everybody’s like, ‘Divorce this man. He’s mean!’ That really hurt that they were talking about my husband like that. For me, it’s like, talk about me all you want, but don’t come for my family, never.”

Biles never thought that her husband’s remarks would trigger so many people to hate him. Later on, both Biles and Owens clarified that the intention behind his comment was entirely different from what the community initially perceived. However, with Owens claiming his wife as the better athlete in their relationship, it shows that he has nothing but love for her. Indeed, despite participating in different sports, the internet has seen both of them competing against each other.

Indeed, once, both of them participated in a rope climb race in the gymnasium. And guess who won? Obviously, it was the gymnast. Biles, with her agility and flexibility, outperformed Owens by not only climbing up quickly but also using a proper technique that involved locking her legs in a specific position. However, Owens struggled a lot and was unable to beat his wife in the race.
While it was a friendly race between the two, it did show the love that they have towards each other and how it doesn’t affect them if they want to compete against each other.
