Jonathan Owens is back taking notes at gymnastics events! It is a well-known fact that the Chicago Bears’ safety has been one of the biggest supporters of his wife, Simone Biles. Leading up to Paris, Owens attended every major event of Biles. And with each passing event, things seemed to become more and more tense for the NFL star. Cheering from the stands, Owens got fully invested in Biles’ sport as he developed an adoring habit. The Bears’ safety started to take down notes as Biles performed on the mat!
He did this at the US Olympic trials and also at the Paris Olympics. And now, Owens is once again sitting down with his pen and paper in the crowd. But this time, it’s not for Simone Biles. As the duo attended Georgia’s game on January 17, 2025, Biles gave a sneak peek into Owens’ ritual. Sharing a snapshot of Owens taking notes, Biles wrote, “jonathan back on the notes iykyk.”
Biles previously revealed that Owens learned the habit of taking notes after watching Biles’ mom and dad do the same. Elaborating on the matter, Biles once told Gymnastics Now back in mid-2024, “Whenever he learns about something, he wants to really dive in. He’s kind of a nerd in that aspect, in the best way, so if he’s going to learn about gymnastics, he’s going to learn about it. So that’s what he was doing – keeping score of everybody and adding it up and stuff like that.”

Now, coming to why Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles were attending a NCAA gymnastics game, there was a special reason. January 17, 2025 marked the very first time the Georgia women’s gymnastics team performed at their home ground this season. Moreover, it was a special occasion for Biles as her ex-coach, Cecile Landi will be at the helm, trying to replicate her WCC success with the Gymdogs. Biles’ appearance was also significant for boosting the morale of the young gymnasts.
After all, their January 4, 2025 season debut did not go as planned. Competing at the Denver Quad Meet, the Gymdogs put up an average performance scoring 195.975. They fell behind significantly, as Denver and Missouri nudged ahead with 196.575 and 196.125. Despite the average showing, Landi was not at all concerned. Taking to her social media, Biles’ former coach wrote, “First meet ✔️ Proud of this team.” Thus, it was important for both Georgia and Landi to make things straight once they came home. And who better than Simone Biles will be able to hype up the team? In fact, the 7x Olympic gold medalist also had a brand new accessory to support the Dawgs.

Biles posted a picture of a brand new jersey of the Georgia Gymnastics. However, it was customized as Biles sported the colors of Georgia as she captioned the post, “go dawgs.” Surely, this was an added caveat as who better than the gymnastics GOAT would have been a fitting candidate to introduce the jersey to the 10,523 elated fans at the Stegeman Coliseum? Thus, with both Biles and Owens turning up to cheer for Georgia, the expectations are pretty high this time from the GymDogs. It will now be interesting to see whether they can channel the positive energy and bring out the first win of the season.
