Simone Biles is one of those athletes whose reach extends far beyond the realms of sports. A legendary gymnast, she has recently been proactive as a mental health advocate. Ever since her Olympic withdrawal, Biles has been the talk of the town. Many major brands have been trying to reel her in for partnerships since.

In a recent development, Simone has been named the ‘Godmother’ of a cruise ship.

Simone Biles announced as the ‘Godmother’

Simone posted a story on her Instagram to announce her partnership with Celebrity Cruises. They offer luxury cruise vacations on their ships with dining rooms, balconies, gyms, spas, suites, and swimming pools. Some cruise ships also offer casinos and other endless entertainment options catering to the needs of every age group.

Meanwhile, the company has announced Biles will be the godmother of the new Celebrity Beyond Ship.

In her story, which contains a promo video by celebrity cruises, Biles wrote she was excited to be the godmother of the ship. In her role as godmother, Simone will name the ship at the official ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on November 4th.

?Simone is truly the G.O.A.T inside and outside of the gym, and I’m humbled and thrilled to welcome her as godmother of our newest ship Celebrity Beyond,? said CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

Biles is joining Nobel Peace Laureate Malala Yousafzai and Reshma Saujani in the list of godmothers to celebrity ships. Reshma is the founder of ‘Girls Who Code,’ and the ‘Marshall Plan for Moms,’ and serves as the godmother to Celebrity Apex. While Malala is the godmother to Celebrity Edge.

While the role of grandmother to a vessel is a longstanding maritime tradition, the title is considered a lifetime position.

Biles’ partnership with Athleta

Athleta is a woman-centric brand that focuses on producing apparel. The company launched in 2008, and 8 years later, they launched the ‘Power of She’ campaign. Athleta is the first of its kind multi-brand women-centric corporation. Simone became the second sponsored athlete of the brand after Allyson Felix.

In April 2022, Athleta announced that the first product line in collaboration with Biles went live. The limited-edition collection is for girls in the 6-12 age group. The collection was in the works for over a year before going live.
