However, at the Tokyo Summer Olympics, she suffered a rare case of the “twisties”. That was it for Biles as she immediately withdrew from the competition, citing mental health concerns. Choosing her mental health over the highest sports glory, Biles set an example, and the world took notice.

In a recent Q&A session, a fan asked Simone Biles what is something that people misunderstand about her a lot. Biles was quick to answer that people often misinterpret her ‘bluntness’.

“My bluntness, I say it out of love,” answered Biles.

The 7-time Olympic medalist believes in keeping it real and being direct.

“Often mistaken as being rude. But people lie and beat around the bush too much these days.”

Biles who has become somewhat of a mental health advocate after Tokyo, wants people to be direct with her about their wants and needs. She keeps it real with others and, in turn, expects the same from them as well.

“Be real with me. Tell it how it is even though it may hurt my feelings because then I know you are just looking out for me or giving me advice,” she added.

What are Biles’ friends like?

Biles’ friends know her well. They know that she will give her most honest opinion, even though it might be harsh. But at the moment, sometimes that’s what you need to hear.

“My friends will either come to me for things or avoid me hahahaa.”

In the same Q&A, Biles also shared some shots with her best friends. Currently, Simone is busy preparing for her big day with her fiance, Jonathan Owens. The happy couple only recently returned from their vacation where they celebrated the GOAT’s 25th birthday.
