“Parents Are a Little Harsh”: Simone Biles Was Scared to Introduce Fiance Jonathan Owens to Her Family

Simone has faced many struggles as a gymnast, but she never hesitated. But taking your boyfriend to meet your parents can be a terrifying experience.

The relationship is built on the base of trust and respect. Biles and Owens came closer during the lockdown. However, it took them some time to realize their love for each other. During a series of ‘Simone vs. herself’ on Facebook Watch, Simone Biles opened up about what happened when she took Owens to her home for the first time.

She said, “Everybody loves him, even my family too. Mama Biles, I can’t tell you how scared I was to take him over there. I was like, Oh my gosh, you know parents are a little harsh.”

Simone added, “I was like ‘so don’t worry if they don’t like you.’ But then met my brother, met my family, and they just clashed really well and I was like wow. Now I invite him over. One time he went over there without me but yeah, it’s great.”

Things turned out well for Simone; her parents have always supported her and trusted her decisions. 

Simone’s growing love for Jonathan

For the very first time, Simone met Owens on a dating app in 2020. After that, they started growing close, and the proof was their Instagram posts. They share the same sense of humor, which makes their bond stronger. 

On Valentine’s day, when Owens proposed to Biles, she expressed her feelings on Instagram. She shared her picture with Jonathan and wrote, “I can’t wait to spend forever & ever with you, you’re everything I dreamed of and more! Let’s get married FIANCÉ @jowens_3.”

Since then, Simone has been busy planning her perfect wedding. During an interview with Keith Garvin, Simone said, “We have the dresses, the venue, and the date. We also have a wedding planner. We know the colors and the theme. We’re about to start working on bridesmaid dresses and his groomsmen, tuxes, or suits for Jonathan. We are ahead; we just sent our save the dates too.”
