Salute Simone Biles, the American winningest gymnast! The 26-year-old seized another chance to expand her medal haul at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships returning to Antwerp, Belgium after a decade. Present in the venue with 200 elite women gymnasts in attendance, Simone Biles vaults ahead into the finals as a clear winner. The 25-time world and Olympic winner departed foreign soil with the first-named move in 2013. This is the third time Belgium is hosting the event, this time with Simone as the veteran gymnast leading apparatus and all-around champion.

At the selection camp, Biles wound up with a lower-than-average all-around score of 55.700 and just 0.4 ahead of Jones. After missing the 2022 Worlds, Biles joined the quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics with another move named after her, Biles II. This is her fifth overall element. Her World Championships qualifying performance has definitely put criticisms out of contention. But, will Biles maintain the winning streak for the US Team as the competition continues?

Making her sixth participation at the Worlds Gymnastics Championship, Biles is keeping up with her medals streak. Biles took home four medals at Antwerp, Belgium back in 2013, the least of all Worlds appearance. Down one Subdivision, the national reigning all-around is maintaining her status reported by @InsideGym. Biles takes first place with 58.865 points edging Shilese Jones with 56.932, a major push in their finish difference(1.933).

 

The odds of the US Team earning a spot in Paris are favorable with American gymnasts commanding the final standing. In addition to leading the troupe, national pride Biles performed her signature Yurchenko double pike. Biles already captured the spotlight, adding Biles II after concluding the 2021 Tokyo Olympics’ missed assignment?in Antwerp today.

Up until the 2023 US Core Hydration Classic in August, USA Gymnastics valued the YPD vault at 6.4, although, the International Gymnastics Federation held back on its score value. Later confirmed by the U.S. team’s technical chief, Chellsie Memmel, the Yurchenko vault got a 6.4 rating. A high rating considering it’s a difficult and dangerous move requiring landing on one leg. With 15.266 on her strongest move for the first time at the World Championship venue, Biles moves closer to surpassing the called-after moves record!

What next for Simone Biles’ team gunning for 2024 Paris Olympics

The 2024 Olympics qualifying event began in October 2022 giving three winning teams securing automatic spot in artistic gymnastics. The 2023 World Gymnastics Championships, which concludes on October 8 in Antwerp, Belgium, are now underway to add nine teams to make the final 12. On Day 1 of the final qualifier event, America has a strong chance of success.

This Wednesday’s team final will take place giving the elites heading to Paris. Followed by individual all-around announcing two gymnasts per nation this Friday. Is it too early to predict the US Gymnastics team’s Summer Olympics berth with Biles in attendance for the third time?
