Making her third World Championship appearance this year, Leanne Wong closed day one on a comfortable note.

The 20-year-old sensation Leanne Wong impressed the crowd with a gorgeous routine on Day 1 of the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. A social media post highlighted the beauty of her clean moves via a video of her Belgium performance. The 2021 bronze medalist didn?t fail to amaze everyone as she took American pride to new heights.

Leanne Wong is one of the most-loved participants representing the US. The 20-year-old Florida Gator has gained a very loyal fanbase over the past few years, who leave no stone unturned to cheer or show support for her. Nevertheless, Wong didn?t disappoint her fanbase hyping her up as she earned a fabulous score of 13.200 on the floor. Hene, USA Gymnastics posted a tweet sharing Wong?s fine display as she ?floored? the spectators with her floor exercise routine.?

Leanne Wong graced the audience with her signature double-double and a double layout. She coupled it with a double pike and landed perfectly on her feet every time. While the 20-year-old claimed a good score on the floor, she also hit the other categories hard. In fact, she stood fourth in terms of overall scores at the end of the day.

The strong finish after the first day of the qualifiers

Leanne Wong recently celebrated her 20th birthday on the 20th of September. In addition to marking the beginning of her twenties, the young gymnast also had a great start on Day 1 by delivering spectacular performances at the 2023 WAC. She collected great scores in various categories and posted an all-around total of 54.398 points. Wong obtained 13.633 points in the Vault, 13.366 on the beam, and 13.666 points on the uneven bars, per sources.

Leanne Wong won the all-around silver medal at Kitakyushu from the 2021 World Gymnastics Championship. The Kitakyushu iteration also yielded her a bronze medal in the floor exercise category. Despite a strong season in 2021, she suffered a fallow year in 2022 and didn?t win any individual medals. In fact, she was also surpassed by Shilese Jones despite being ahead of her in the beginning. This year, Wong has come to Belgium with resolve and plans to add more individual medals to her shelf. Will she be able to chisel out a different year out of 2023?
