Shilese Jones is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to gymnastics. Ever since she stepped into her beloved arena, Jones has earned medals as a team and as an individual in the most prominent of the events. Now coming back to try her hand at securing a place at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Shilese Jones is all set to perform the magic at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

The qualifier round for the 2024 Paris, World Artistics Gymnastics Championship is one of the events looked forward to the most. Interestingly, as she is preparing for the event in Antwerp, Shilese caught up for a quick interview at the venue. The gymnast besides talking about her presence at the event, also touched on a topic strengthening for her injury. Sharing the matter, the one-stop gymnastics page took to Twitter to post Jones’ thoughts and form.

Gymnastics star talks about injury post-training

On Thursday, the Gymnastics Now shared a small chat with the US artistic gymnast, Shilese Jones.?Catching up with Shilese, the interviewer asked the gymnast how she felt being at the global platform as compared to last year. Answering Heath, Shilese said that she feels more confident as she didn’t know what to expect last year. She further added that she looked to give her best going ahead.

Following along, the next question posed to Shilese addressed the obstacle she suffered at the beginning of the year. Approaching the topic of her injury, the interviewer asked how her injuries were at the current stage.

Replying, Jones said, “I had a major shoulder injury at the beginning of the year that took me back a little…But I feel strong in my training right now, and honestly feel great.”

Prior to her injuries, Shilese has achieved great feat. The gymnast has won gold at the 2022 World Championships and the 2018 Pan American Championships. As for individual rewards, Shilese stands entitled to silver medals for 2022 World all-around, as well as the 2022 World uneven bars. But pushing through her recovery, Jones has showcased immense determination and progress.

The 21-year-old suffered not one but two injuries marked at the Worlds in October last year. A torn labrum in her shoulder and an ankle injury set Shilese back by 10 months. Following the same, the youngster made it back to the field in August this year with the 2023 US Core Hydration Classic. However, when Jones made an appearance, the gymnast revealed that she wasn’t a hundred percent ready. But the thought did not stop Shilese.

Striding her way through, Shilese made it to 2023 XFinity Gymnastics Championships. And keeping up, Jones is set to walk down the 2023 World Gymnastics Championship path in Antwerp, Belgium. While earning the team gold and getting a ticket to 2024 Paris will be her ultimate goal, Shilese also has another wish on the list; to stand out in individual event.

During the course of the nine-day event, Shilese aims to perform a triple turn with the leg held horizontally on the Floor Exercise. Following the success of the performance, Jones will look for a chance to get the element named for her. If Jones reigns successful in meeting her aim, the youngster will be strengthening her stand more than ever before; adding to the inspirational grace, determination, and strength she exudes.
