In a time when female college athletes are using social media to their advantage and earning millions, a growing concern is surfacing. The NCAA’s 2021 ground-breaking NIL policy implementation for student-athletes is calling out some unhealthy practices. One such target has been Olivia Dunne who opened a wealth of financial prospects with her meteoric rise to fame; earning the coveted title of the highest-paid female collegiate athlete.

With an incredible 12 million followers, Dunne’s virtual fame extends well beyond her competitive abilities. As per a New York Times article, the LSU Tigers senior gymnast defends it saying, ?It?s just about showing as much or as little as you want.? However, a vital issue was raised when the battle for sports equity and the glamorous world of online fans collided. Dunne is a social media genius who balances her roles at LSU with ease as she navigates through the busy lanes across multiple digital platforms. To celebrate her wins a video creator, Adam Faris narrated a catchy video explaining Dunne’s $6M net worth. The Instagram video was posted by Sports Illustrator whom Dunne saved millions this year; its caption read, “Livvy Dunne has become a pioneer in the NIL space in today?s world of college athletics.”

Faris decoded the wall of hefty pocket value as he explained how the “trailblazer” athlete accumulates an incredible net worth via sponsored content, casually sporting jeans from American Eagle Outfitters, athletic apparel from Vuori, and popular phone brand Motorola among others. Digging further, he revealed an astounding discovery from a podcast in which Dunne casually revealed making over half a million dollars from a single NIL deal. His emphasis on the strategic undertones suggested that long-term partnerships are carefully crafted calling it “purposeful”.

He also added some insights from On3’s quoting Dunne’s NIL Valuation to be $3.5 million which was the third highest overall. Further claiming her growing salary figures could make her number one despite her stating she’s “picky” when endorsing a brand. However, critics continue to accuse the 21-year-old of leveraging her attractiveness to fill her pocket and the recent video was an example of it.
