Shilese Jones is a reckoning force in the gymnastics world. Right from her debut at the American Classic to being a part of the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship-winning team, Jones isn’t one to take a step back. Now, as she positions with her remarkable feats, the gymnast had a statement for the critics post-event on her performance.

As Jones entered the ground on the 1st of October to dominate at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championship 2023, she made sure to excel. Following the end of Day 1 Jones placed herself in the top 8 of not one but all of the apparatus and the all-around. Continuing along, Shilese Jones joined the team on top of the podium on Oct 4th following the nation’s 7th consecutive win at the World Gymnastics Championship.
The team’s success called for the athlete’s thoughts and interviews which received a strong response from Jones. In the interview, Jones said, “I think people portray me as inconsistent, so just proving the media wrong, proving everyone wrong, and showing up and showing up to do my gymnastics when it’s time to count”, Inside Gymnastics reported on Twitter (now X).

In the qualifier round, Jones was placed 2nd all-around just below Biles accumulating 56.932. Apart from that, Jones placed 2nd once again on Uneven Bars, however defeating the latter with a scoreboard marked at 14.833. The rising icon of US gymnastics has proven to hold more to her with every performance.?
A look at Jones’ performance at the 2023 World Gymnastics

It was back in mid-September that Shilese let the world know that she was in the industry to leave a mark. Aiming to reach the 2023 Worlds, Jones went against the best of them at the 2023 U.S. Women’s World Team Selection Event. While to no one’s surprise Jones made it to the top, it was a marvel for the score she put up. Garnering a total of 55.300, and placing second, Shilese was short by 0.4 points to catch up with Simone Biles. Since then, Shilese has stood worthy of her placement.
In the qualifiers round, Shilese scored 56.932, placing 2nd all-around, followed by 14.049 in the vault which took her down to sixth. However, recovering, she put up a 14.833 moving ahead of Simone who was placed sixth in uneven bars. Nearing the end, the Balance Beam called for a 14.033 placing fifth, and a 13.8 in floor exercise positioned as previously.? As for the following day, Jones recorded 13.566 for Floor Exercise, and 13.600 on Balance Beam.

Following her performance in all of the apparatus, Shilese and Jones will be competing at all of the apparatus except for the vaults. The 21-year-old, uneven bar silver medallist, is all set to put forth the best of her agility and grace. With the upcoming Women’s individual all-around final on 6th, it is finally time people witness the potential of Shilese Jones.
