Paul Juda is a US Gymnast who aces several different gymnastics apparatuses. The 22-year-old took on a unique challenge at Antwerp when he decided to perform the Yurchenko Double Pike. He didn?t hesitate and charged forward with Simone Biles? most trusted weapon.

The official X account of USA Gymnastics tweeted the video of Juda?s near-perfect Yurchenko Double Pike. To everyone?s amazement, what separated Juda?s version from that of Biles was the fact that he didn?t use a spotter.?

Queen Biles always chooses to go with a spotter and suffers a 0.5 deduction in points as a minimal toll. While Biles can also choose to do it without a spotter, she?s willing to trade some points for better execution and safety.

Although Juda didn?t use a spotter, choosing the move rebranded by Biles acts as a huge tribute to the star gymnast. Moreover, Juda took a bigger risk by choosing to go without a spotter despite a recent injury scare. In fact, he almost took a fall while performing the routine.

Paul Juda may have decided to execute the YDP without a spotter, but this could have led to another injury. Juda landed a little off-balance and had to be quick on his feet to regain his composure. While Juda narrowly escaped another major injury, this goes on to prove the importance of a spotter for Biles II. The lucky escape marked the second time when Juda advanced through something despite low odds.
