Will Jade Carey’s fortunes change on the last day of Worlds selection camp? The 23-year-old came in third all-around, took home a gold medal in the vault, and received a bronze medal on the floor, putting her as a strong candidate for the Worlds seat. However, in the presence of the winningest gymnast Simone Biles at Core Hydration Classic, her performance narrowed to a quarter of play on the balance beam. Her command kept dropping making her “frustrated” as she struggled to maintain her ambition of competing in the forthcoming Olympics.
Despite giving fierce competition to Biles as the reigning Worlds vault champion, she stood fifteenth in the continental qualifier. Making her mark on Day 1 of the Worlds selection, her 52.800 placed her farther from the sixth seat. Now unless she is pulling some jujutsu on the select day the new apparatus will remain a questionable move.

Yesterday, in the all-around round, she secured 52.800 doing below average keeping her distant from the Worlds and Olympics altogether. Interestingly, she is not a member of the 2023?24 senior women’s national team headed to Brussels next month. She earned scores of 14.550 on the vault, 13.250 on the uneven bars, 12.050 on the balancing beam, and 13.100 on the floor during Day 2 at Xfinity. The day totaled 52.950 compared to her competitor Biles who scored 59.150 and was an automatic Worlds qualifier yesterday. Will she repeat the qualifying history again, which is the practical question here?

Jade Carey gets real about her biggest fear
Days ahead of the Xfinity Championships, the gymnast confessed to straining herself to the limit to constantly perform brilliantly and stressed taking a step back. She even revealed her mantra: “more relying on my(her) technique than just getting frustrated.” The Oregon State University star stressed competing under mounted pressure that affected her training. She admitted that she put a lot of pressure on herself to always perform flawlessly.
Carey looks forward to eliminating making hasty decisions and just relying on her knowledge. Her self-reflective mindset was reasonably apparent on the last day of camp selection.
