Following a close defeat of No. 7 Michigan to No.1 Oklahoma in NCAA Gymnastics at the Lloyd Noble Center, the Michigan gymnasts are gearing up for an exceptional performance against Georgia on March 8, 2024. Despite failing short of victory in the previous meet, wolverines are not backing down. With the hunger for redemption and determination, Michigan will bring the A-game against Georgia.

On March 1, the Wolverines succumbed to Oklahoma’s excellence with a final score of 198.650 and 197.325. Surprisingly, Michigan showcased its gymnastic prowess on the uneven bars, earning a season-best score of 49.500. The outstanding performance of Sierra Brooks scored an impressive 9.950. She shone brightly but the team was defeated at last. However, they are ready for the upcoming match against Georgia.

The no.7 ranked Michigan squad put forth a commendable effort against Oklahoma but fell short in the final score. However, the team players of Michigan gave them a tough competition. Besides Sierra Brooks, the uneven bar performance showcased a formidable display of skills of Carly Bauman and McCaleigh Marr, with each scoring 9.900s.

Michigan commenced the meeting with matching scores of 9.875 from Gabby Wilson and Jacey Vore. However, they trailed behind OU, who notched a 49.525, as they transitioned into the second rotation. For this reason, from the official Instagram page (@umichwgym), Michigan Women’s Gymnastics, shared the pictures from the last-day showdown with the caption, “The uneven bars score a season-best in Oklahoma!”

But, despite their efforts, the Wolverines found themselves trailing the Sooners with a score of 99.250-98.575 at the midpoint of the competition. In the final rotation, Michigan scored 148.000 while Oklahoma got an impressive score of 149.050. Even though the Wolverines commenced the final rotation strongly, they fell short against the defending national champions, Oklahoma. But, Michigan did not lose hope as they prepared for the upcoming match with Georgia.

Michigan aimed to bounce back in the upcoming match

Even after giving the season’s best, the Michigan Women’s Gymnastic team could not taste the victory. In midway, the audience thought that they would win at last, but the tables turned and brought bad luck for the Wolverines. On the floor exercise, Michigan continued to shine, recording a score of 49.425.

Furthermore, Gabby Wilson and Sierra Brooks displayed their excellence on the blue mat with matching scores of 9.925. While Jeanna Mulligan and Reyna Guggino contributed 9.875, Paige Thaxton anchored the rotation with a solid 9.825. But, in the final set, Oklahoma took a strategic turn and grabbed the victory in minutes. Now, the Wolverines are set to bounce back in their upcoming Georgia face-off. They strive to reclaim victory and make a statement on their home turf.
