It has been a binding time for Gymnastics enthusiasts as the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship took off last month. The teams putting up resilient performances have made history yet again. The Simone Biles-led US team earned their 7th consecutive win at the 2023 Worlds as Brazil and France followed along with their moments of pride. However, the suspense in the arena grew palpable when America’s favorite French athlete experienced a dreadful fall.

Star Gymnast ?Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos ?has time and time again expressed her adoration for Simone Biles and other American gymnasts. France Women’s Gymnastics Team on the team finals day ended the day winning a spot on the podium. Melanie De Jesus, who had led her team to victory the previous day, found herself at the center of a nail-biting moment. As she gracefully approached the uneven bars, the world watched with bated breath. Unaware that a misstep would soon send shockwaves through the gymnastics world, Melanie took to the ground as the event proceeded into all-around finals on day 8.

2023 World Artistic Gymnastics witnesses a horrific fall on all-around finals

Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos, the leading star of the France women’s gymnastics team, earned a top 10 finish on the all-around list with a score of 54.465. Following her success, Santos took to the Uneven Bars stand on the 6th of October aiming for a top score. However, the performance yielded a disappointing result. The 23-year-old continuing on her routine experienced a fault during a release on the bars. Melanie failed to grasp the bar after a release that led to her fall on the apparatus.

Melanie who has established herself as one of the favorites of Simone Biles, came back for a seamless performance in the next round. Despite her efforts, the fall deducted a point on the apparatus for Melanie totalling her final score at 12.500. Regardless of the misstep, the star gymnast holds a ground to put forth her gymnastics marvels following her exceptional performance for the team.

Like every ambitious and determined gymnast, Melanie has had one goal laid out for her throughout; the Olympics. The 23-year-old who started her gymnastics career in 2015 at French Championships, went on to earn herself an European all-around champion title in 2019. Melanie further expanding her horizon stepped into a newer venture in 2019.?

Chasing her goals, Melanie headed to Hudson Texas, to train with Cecile and Laurent Landi; who also guided Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles. Despite the presence of notable personalities, Melanie had only one thing in mind; the 2024 Paris.?“My project is the Olympic preparation for Paris 2024, and I?ll come back [to France] for training camps and competitions,” Melanie said talking to the Olympics. Following up, Melanie has performed exceptionally well at the 2023 Worlds.?

Leading alongside Morgane Osyssek-Reimer, and Marine Boyer, Melanie scored the team a winning score of 14.000 with her impressive routines. Now if the gymnast keeps up with the momentum, Melanie will not only inch towards her goal but will also earn a big one for the country.
