Fresh off professional hiatus Simone Biles has been reigning another World Gymnastics Championship since opening day. While the trailblazer is busy defending her power position in Belgium, things are turning worrisome for her family. Simone shares a close connection with her older half-brother Ron Biles Jr., his wife Sammi, and their daughter Ronni Biles. Biles’ niece, who is one month away from turning one, is unwell and has been visiting the hospital all week.

Another update was posted by Sammi as she continues to look after Ronni’s side amidst slow recovery. This time Ron, who already has complex health issues, is scheduled to go through yet another major health scare.

Despite a half-point cut on the mats, 26-year-old Biles got a 15.766 for the Yurchenko double pike on vault on Day 1 of the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship. Just moments after she got her vault’s second and fifth overall named move added, her sister-in-law updated on Instagram about Ronni’s concerning ER tests.

Sammi shared a story on Instagram captioned, “praying October is at the very least semi kind to us because November is going to be hard. Ron is having another hip surgery. it will be a full hip replacement.” She further explained, “he had a full hip at the end 2020 on his other hip and the surgery + recovery + everything was AWFUL.”

Ron was taken to the hospital for a potentially crucial surgery in the first week of 2023. He suffers from a condition called avascular necrosis, which causes the femur bone in some areas of his body to weaken. Hence, his right hip suffered majorly while his left hip underwent complete replacement. He previously stated that it was a long-standing hip problem and had even had a hip replacement.

Sammi summarized the “non-pretty moments” of life, saying, “things have not played in our favor.” She also got emotional about her struggles with conceiving with IVF during Ronni’s time expressing how things can get overwhelming for such parents. Coupled with her husband and baby’s health, she too faces some issues. However, she said, “if anything I just hope & pray Ronni has a safe + simple yet VERY special 1st birthday in November. she deserves it.” What medical concerns does Sammi have for her daughter?

What happened to Simone Biles’s niece?

Born on November 25th, Ronni easily won the family’s hearts and formed a sweet relationship with her aunt Biles. She was born premature which often increases her risk of health problems. When she showed symptoms of cold, flu, and RSV symptoms, the mother and daughter pair headed to the clinic for tests. Evenings and nights are particularly long for the family as she is healing from the effects of the weather blues.

Even Sammi fell sick and shared, “i am coughing, headache, achy, zero energy, sore throat, & just want to sleep but hello mom mode.” The Biles family is facing a difficult time but is keeping a positive outlook as the next critical operation draws near.
