American standout Jordan Chiles is having a great year so far, winning six All-America honors and NCAA crowns in April. She was acclaimed as the College Gym News Sportswoman of the Year and WCGA West Region Gymnast of the Year. She finished fourth on uneven bars at the Core Hydration Classic and sixth overall in the U.S. Championships. Chiles also ticked her dream of being the flagbearer at a major athletic event at the victorious Pan American Games.
On October 22, the 2020 Olympian and 11-time member of the National Team led the United States to their sixth straight Pan American Games title. However, she met with a tragic incident that raised much concern for her well-being during her individual event. In a recent message put out by the gymnast, she addressed her state and reflected on her strength.

Jordan Chiles led the US team to victory during the Pan American Games, where she won gold in the team event, silver in the vault, and bronze in the all-around. However, on October 24, the 22-year-old gymnast suffered a terrible fall on the mid-air bars routine, leaving many concerned. Jordan Chiles posted a few pictures on her Instagram from her performance and wrote, “and that?s a wrap on Jordan?s pan am games experience?. forever Chiles in Chile!!”

The Olympic silver medalist further added, “I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the love and support these past few days. I?m ok from bars and ready to get back to work!!” Earlier one of her fans expressed concern saying, ??That was frightening to watch.? At the Pan Am Games Chiles fell backward during her uneven bars performance after she struck the bar performing the piked Jaeger move. As a result, she scored 12.400, enough for seventh place.
Knowing it was her moment to shine, after the heartbreaking fall, Chiles said, ?I don?t want to say I?m disappointed in myself, just like I don?t even know what really happened.? With a heavy reliance on Chiles, the American team won the team gold medal for the sixth straight time this year.
Along with Sumanasekera, Zoe Miller, Kayla DiCello, and Kaliya Lincoln scored 165.196 points. What followed next was a series of medals for American gymnasts at the 19th Pan American Games.

Following the team’s triumph, DiCello became the first American to win the gold medal in the Pan American Games all-around competition since Bridgette Caquatto in 2015. In the vault, Jordan Chiles won a bronze and then a silver in the vault. While Kayla DiCello and Kaliya Lincoln won gold and silver in the floor routine the next day, Zoe Miller won a gold medal in the uneven bars.
At the National Stadium Sports Park in Santiago, Chile, the artistic gymnastics US team (men and women) won a combined 12 medals. Out of which 7 were gold, 3 silvers, and two bronze medals. After the maintained team streak, Chiles proudly stated, ?There’s so many more dreams in this little body of mine.?

Earlier last month, Andrade defeated Biles in the world championship in Antwerp, claiming the vault gold. Although America has continued to keep its streaks going they have done so by margin wins.
