Staying relevant in the world of competitive sports takes a lot of work. One doesn?t only have to give their best, but make sure that their best surpasses the best of everyone else. An 18-year-old Sunisa Lee did just that at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she waltzed in and triumphed over all the global-level gymnasts. However, she had to take a break from the sport because of a complication with her kidneys. After staying away from the field for since April, she made a grand comeback at the 2023 Core Hydration Classic.

The Core Hydration Classic, or the US Classic, carried out its podium training on 3rd August 2023. A video going viral on Instagram beautifully captures the flawlessness of the Tokyo gold medalist. However, this comeback wasn?t easy to make. Sunisa Lee has finally broken her silence on her medical condition. She revealed how she has been struggling with just staying healthy and that she shouldn?t be doing gymnastics at the moment.

The viral video displays Lee beautifully transitioning from one bar to another. The clip belongs to her performance on the uneven bars where she moves and spins like water. The video was uploaded by the official Instagram handle of Team USA and shows the finesse of Sunisa. Fans are going wild as they witness the dazzling comeback of their champion. However, the world?s first Hmong-American Olympian shared that this comeback wasn?t easy at all. She talked about the pressure she put herself through in the gym despite not being fully healthy for competition. She also spoke about feeling pressured to deliver more, as many people doubt and question her Tokyo triumph.

?I was telling Jess and the doctors, I?m probably gonna end up crying because I?m not even really supposed to be doing gymnastics right now,??said Lee. She also mentioned thinking about her growth if she had been perfectly healthy. ?I feel like if I was going at the pace that I was back then, I would definitely be ready for the Olympics today,??said Lee.

Lee stated that she takes really heavy medication and her schedule is jam-packed with doctor appointments. However, despite enduring all the pain, struggle, and mental fatigue, Lee expressed a strong desire to do this. Sunisa noted that she is taking baby steps to return to where she belongs.

Sunisa Lee revealed that her immediate objective is to qualify for the US Championships. Sunisa?s coach, Jess Graba, revealed that Lee won?t participate in any floor events. Lee admitted that this event was not about winning or scoring.??I?m honestly just trying to get back out there,??noted Sunisa. While Sunisa Lee has not lost much in terms of skill and execution, she is having trouble with maintaining and developing stamina. She said she was proceeding with caution.?

?I?m definitely pushing myself, but it?s just a matter of taking it day by day. Because I don?t want to do something stupid and then have it take me out even longer or like just a dumb injury,??said Sunisa Lee. While she may have lost some points in stamina, her ambition has only strengthened. ?I really do want that bars gold,??she noted. Apparently, Sunisa Lee had to settle for a bronze medal in Tokyo in bars. Her fans are ecstatic with her return and are cheering for her to get back on top. Now that she is finally back, Sunisa will leave no stone unturned to qualify and defend her gold medal in Paris.
