If Olivia Dunne’s the brain, her sister Julz Dunne is the brawn. As Livvy navigates through an iconic NCAA career, her $4.2 million NIL value—the highest among female college athletes—and an elaborate social media presence with a combined 13.5 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, much of her success can be attributed to her older sister. It’s safe to say that Julz is a social media wizard who never fails to add a touch of some interesting tidbits to her sister’s life, which was amply evident from her latest comment. But before we get to that…

An LSU-alum like Livvy, Julz graduated in May 2023, after studying kinesiology, with a concentration in physical activity and health. But she diverted her career path to work for her sister. Currently, Julz is employed on her sister’s social media team. “So any of her TikTok ads, I’m the one who edits, directs films, all of them. I really love doing that. It’s awesome and it’s just something that I would love to continue doing for her, for myself, for other athletes, for really anyone,” the older sibling had said. But not just that…

As per what Julz told The Purple Room Podcast in February 2023, she also talks to brands, and is the mastermind behind all collaborative and sponsored posts. But let’s not forget, she’s also the mastermind behind every witty comment she leaves on Livvy’s post. To recall just one instance: Remember when the 22-year-old gymnast had posted a photo from the Paris Olympics venue. “Pardon my French…,” Dunne had captioned the post, which featured her flaunting a white sweater with the USA flag.

Now, it’s not unknown that Olivia had once aspired to be an Olympian, but an ankle fracture at age 15-16 changed everything. Now, what did Julz comment? “Why didn’t you compete????,” she wrote, mimicking similar comments. A great way to poke fun at a sibling, isn’t it? But this time, Julz’s comment was more of a request rather than a dig…

Livvy has posted a video on her Instagram on December 28, teasing the upcoming season, where she was seen executing a stunning floor routine while donning LSU’s purple and gold. The post featured a remixed version of Travis Scott’s 2023 hit FE!N, and the caption read, “let’s geaux😼 #lsu #gymnastics #tumbling #college #ncaa”. Notably, the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championship 2025 is scheduled to start in January 2025, and go on till April 17 and 19.

Having said that, as expected, fans couldn’t get enough of Dunne’s spectacular moves, and showered the comments section with endearing messages. And then there was one user, Kenna Piecuch, who seems to know both the sisters personally—Julz has been seen commenting on some of her IG uploads; Kenna also posted a picture with the LSU gymnast back in May last year where the two seemed like close friends—who took it a notch higher. Tagging Julz in her comment, she wrote, “Are you ready for it @julzdunne ?”.

To this, Julz responded, “I hope they play fein?! This is lsu gymnastics…” She’s requesting LSU gymnastics as the college is considered to be fashionable with the times, unlike old institutions.

As for Dunne and her team, they are preparing to the fullest. Even one of the LSU gymnasts, Haleigh Bryant, got injured just before the season opener. What exactly happened? At the Gymnastics 101 event, while executing her vault routine, she injured the ulnar collateral ligament on her elbow, due to which she was sidelined immediately from the campaign.

Coming back to Olivia Dunne, during last season (2023-24), she performed really well. She competed in eight floor exercise routines and matched her career high of 9.9 twice. Olivia also competed twice on the uneven bars, including at the SEC Championships, where LSU won the team title for the first time in history. Now, a new session is just about to start, and the LSU team is all set to break records.

But despite so many accolades, like all others, the young star is also prone to online trolling. But don’t worry, she knows just the way!

Olivia Dunne never shied away from defending her or her team on social media

When it comes to trolling, Dunne has always stood up against trollers and given a befitting response. When she uploaded a new video on TikTok with the caption, “Y’all better BE THERE!“, she welcomed her fans to watch LSU’s debut against Iowa State on January 3, 2025. Many of the fans dropped positive comments, but social media is not only about positive comments but also sarcastic and negative comments as well.

A user commented, “Every year I look forward to watching the same bar routine!!!” which highlighted the frustration of it being boring, especially Dunne’s moves. But Dunne didn’t hold back and responded, “Tell me you don’t know about college gymnastics without telling me you don’t know college gymnastics.” Well, that was a befitting reply to the critics.

Though the pressure to perform better than the last time is insane on the athletes, such comments demotivate them. It is to be seen how Olivia Dunne and LSU are going to perform in the upcoming season.
