Olivia Dunne keeps her audience in an uplifting mood

So what’s this Trump dance all about? Many years before, when the current President-elect Donald Trump was at a MAGA rally, he danced to Village People’s iconic anthem “YMCA,” and his hand movements, grooving along to the tunes, became viral. However, a similar trend emerged again on social media right before New Year’s Eve.

Grooving to the tunes, Olivia Dunne uploaded the dance video on her Instagram with fellow LSU gymnast Kylie Coen. Indeed, it looked like both of them had a fantastic time uplifting their mood right before heading into their first event of the 2024-25 NCAA season against Iowa State. Dunne also included a message in her caption, stating, “A little pre-meet hype:)”

But did they live up to the hype? The LSU Tigers showcased to Iowa State that they are the defending champions. In the Maravich Center, at the Tigers’ home ground, they prevailed over their opponent with a scoreline of 197.300-194.100. And how did their coach, Jay Clark, feel about it? While there were celebrations, he was serious with his gymnasts, stating, “That doesn’t mean it was mistake-free. It just means that they did a great job from an approach and a mindset. They didn’t get distracted by things that could have distracted them. They’re still getting their legs under them in certain spots.”

Then, Dunne leveled up herself, scoring a 9.875. Indeed, it was a great season opener for her and her team, and there’s a lot to look forward to from the defending champions. So the pre-match dance did help her to clear her mind and perform at the very best of her abilities, and her followers just loved it.
