It’s the beginning of the end! As Olivia Dunne and the LSU gymnastics squad stepped into the PMAC for the 2024-25 Gym 101 event, many of them must have had déjà vu from the night they hoisted the NCAA trophy. But, for Dunne, it must’ve hit a little differently. A mega flashback worth five years of memories? Quite possible!
However, Livvy knew it: this was about to be her final Gym 101. Thus, she was going to soak in every moment. But how does one turn these experiences into memories? We know one thing for sure: having our loved ones around certainly helps! And as always, Livvy had her boyfriend, Paul Skenes right by her side.
As seen on her social media, Paul Skenes was present at the PMAC to watch Olivia Dunne’s intrasquad exhibition, the LSU Gymnastics 101 event, as a super senior. No wonder, after the event, she took to her Instagram and posted a picture with him on her story. And teased him as a “Big LSU gym fan,” in the caption. But what really kept fans on their toes was a series of stories showcasing her incredible gymnastics skills. In one, she’s perfectly balancing on the beam, and in another, she’s nailing her floor routine, possibly filmed by Paul, the lucky fan.

However, one thing stood out—Livvy skipped the vault at the event. She wasn’t alone though; super senior Haleigh Bryant also passed on the vault and had a fall on the beam. So, how did Dunne fare overall? On Uneven Bars, Dunne started with a Tkatchev to Pak salto, and she caught it cleanly. She finished with a double layout dismount, with a small slide back on the landing. Her Floor routine was a crowd-pleaser.
She opened with a front tuck through to double tuck—with just a small step out. Her leaps? Absolutely flawless. She wrapped it up with a solid double pike to close. Livvy’s floor game has been on fire, and she’s been a staple for LSU, appearing in nine meets this season and competing in both bars and floor events. On floor exercise, she earned a career-high 9.900 at the Podium Challenge and again at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional.
She also posted a solid 9.875 on bars at the Podium Challenge, averaging a 9.857 on floor and 9.838 on bars this year. Given her performance, it’s no surprise she earned the Coaches Award, with the team praising her for always being ready to step in when needed—last season, she filled in for Kiya Johnson, and this might be the season she breaks into the top 6!
On the Balance Beam, she opened with a BHS LOSO—she had a slight balance check but she pulled it together and kept going. Her front aerial was smooth, and while there was a tiny check between the leaps, she quickly got back on track. She finished with a gainer pike and, best of all, no movement on the landing. However, Dunne seemed visibly happy after she clicked with Skenes in a joyous embrace. After all, this is what they do: always go above and beyond to boost each other’s spirits.

Olivia Dunne tries to be there for Paul Skenes
When she sat down for a talk at the Betches podcast, Olivia Dunne mentioned, “I try to go to every game in Pittsburgh if I’m not at school.” We saw that as she was also present next to him on the livestream when he was declared the MLB Rookie of the Year!
And it’s clear the support goes both ways. In another interview, Paul shared how his offseason looks a little different than most, “I took three weeks off at the beginning of the offseason. Took a mini vacation to Florida for a few days. It’s just tough because my girlfriend [LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne] is in school, and I’m trying to spend as much time with her as possible.”

Even with their careers taking off, the two still make time for each other. But despite being athletes there’s one thing they can’t do together: workout. “We tried to work out together once, but our workout style is quite different. He has his earbuds in; he just grinds and doesn’t talk, but I like talking too much!” Olivia Dunne once said.
However, they find ways to balance it out. Paul’s been spotted cheering for her at the PMAC, and Olivia has been a regular at his home games at PNC Park. They even stole a small candlelight date recently! What do you think of the love the two share?
