After the LSU Tigers clashed with the University of Kentucky, the star gymnast of the LSU, Olivia Dunne took to her social media to share a vivid conduct on how far she has come to overcome her fears and failures on the uneven bars, in particular. Though the final routines on bars might see those dazzling perfect landings, the behind-the-scenes reality can be markedly different. A recent clip shared by Olivia Dunne came as a stern reminder of the risks a gymnast goes through to make their place.

In the clip, two separate clips have been stitched. While the first one is from a meet with a packed arena, the other one is from the practice mats. In both the clips, Olivia is seen performing on the uneven bars. But, the difference in the outcomes is somewhat scary.

The first clip shows Olivia Dunne perfectly landing while sticking on the mats after the bar routine as the audience lauds her heartily. The second one shows Livvy thrashing into the mat after she missed catching up at the bar. The force and posture with which she falls succinctly show that the outcome could have been disastrous, even career-ending. The post went with the caption, “Bars:1 Livvy:0”. Notably, the same clip of the fall she had posted back in February last year after she returned to practice after a foot injury. But how did Livvy process that?

She came out as a perfect example of “practice makes a man perfect”. Over all the years, cruising through such risky endeavors, she has crafted a place of her own. That journey has brought out many shades in her. From having a successful social media presence to witnessing LSU’s fifth SEC title while becoming a senior on the verge of bidding goodbye. This year has seen her rising to the occasion multiple times.

A gymnast first, above everything else

Last month, as LSU lifted its fifth SEC title, Olivia Dunne played her bit in that. The teams notched 198.075 while Livvy put up 9.800 on the bars. Previously in a meet against Auburn, George Washington, and Texas Woman’s, Livvy tied her career-high 9.900 in the leadoff spot on floor routines during the Podium challenge. In addition, she also scored 9.857 on bars. Despite her maddening popularity on social media, these performances only show that she is equally invested in her primary duty: gymnastics. LSU coach Jay Clark also mentioned the same once.

“We don’t call her Livvy. That’s another person. She’s Olivia or Liv. When she’s in that gym, she’s a gymnast and a teammate and a student at LSU. Everything that’s on social media and on the internet, that’s not part of our day-to-day interactions. That’s to her credit. She wants to be part of this team and wants us to be successful,” Clark had come out clear about Olivia Dunne. Her latest clips are a reminder that beyond everything, it is her gymnast self that surpasses all other shades she carries with her.
