Last week on Friday, in the PMAC, Dunne and her gymnastic comrades confronted the No. 7 Arkansas. Scoring 198.475-196.200, LSU proved its worth, securing the pole position in program history. The 21-year-old has always kept her girls above all. Never failing to acknowledge the bond that goes beyond the gymnastic mat, her recently uploaded TikTok clip has solidified it. The post captioned as “nothing compares fr”, has an in-video text that reads “friendships that started with a sport”. Having registered with the LSU in 2020 officially, she set sail on the 2020-21 season with only wins to claim. The first meet where Olivia Dunne made her NCAA debut against Arkansas has come to a full circle with her recent record-setting win. 

Tying for the 14th all-time best score in NCAA history, the LSU team took their ‘Geaux’ a little too seriously this time. Recently, when Dunne entered the lockers’ room to greet her girls, all of them looked uninviting. In a fun twist, with words like ‘ew’, the girls bantered with each other. Engaging in more such hilarity, the girls have never skipped cheering the highest-paid NCAA gymnast on any occasion. Having said so, let’s take a look at individual performances from last Friday.

New phenoms on the rise

Going against the Arkansas Razorbacks, the LSU started strong on the first rotation itself. Anchoring the team to a most coveted victory, emerging queen Haleigh Bryant’s 9.975 vault score played a pivotal role. Aiming to secure her 1st LSU win, Savannah Schoenherr’s uneven bars 9.950 placed her on top.

McClain’s beam score reading 9.975 has also played a leading role in upping the team’s total. Bryant, the floor queen with numerous 10s under her belt, has had a smooth floor maneuver this time as well. On the other, there was the most popular face of LSU Dunne, with her floor 9.875 and bars 9.775. With the girls celebrating with confetti around, let’s see if they can defend their title today.
