While the gymnastics icon’s recent Olympic glory has once again established her as an elite gymnast, her popularity also brings significant attention to everything she does daily. More often than not, her actions are scrutinized meticulously, making any slip-up a subject of massive online backlash. Amid that, the true motivations behind her actions can often get lost in translation. Such was the case when Simone appeared in the pre-season game between the Chicago Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals on August 17.

The 27-year-old has recently made the headlines once again as the strenuous relationship between Simone and her biological mother resurfaced on the Internet. While Biles is looking to keep her gaze away and make use of her time by cheering for her husband Jonathan Owens, NFL fans weren’t all smiles noticing her choice of fashion for the game.

Inside Gymnastics posted on Instagram about the attire Biles sported at the game earlier today. “Simone Biles is continuing her custom couture look for husband Jonathan Owens’ NFL games!” reads the caption of the post, highlighting the gymnast’s relentless display of support for her beau. However, fans weren’t happy to notice that her jacket was a Green Bay Packers one, the team where Jonathan used to play before joining the Bears earlier this year. Amid the fiasco, most missed the real beauty of the jacket from Pressed by Sarita.

The custom-made jacket had an elaborate collage of Owens, which might be the reason that Simone even overlooked the fierce rivalry between the Packers and the Bears that dates back to 1921. But it looks like the Bears fans aren’t eager to consider her emotions right now. While some asked to trash her jacket right away others advised her to get a Bears version of the piece. Some went on to tag Kristin Juszczyk, wife of San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk, who has previously designed Packers-themed outfits for Simone.

Even sports insiders also joined the chorus. Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel noted, “Yeah, she’s supporting her man, but c’mon, this is one of football’s oldest rivalries!” However, Simone also had some support coming on her way for the attire.

The designer of the jacket, Sarita Scarlett could not hide her admiration and excitement over Simone sporting her brand. On her brand page she posted a series of pictures of Simone, writing “The suite life 😜” In one more post, she showcased a clip of Simone entering the stadium with the jacket on and the encouraging messages she received for that. “THANK YOU to each of you and to the GOAT @simonebiles ya ate my girl!! 🙏,” Sarita captioned the post. However, this is not the first time Simone has sported this brand.

In December last year, Simone had attended a game between the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field. On that occasion, she sported a custom-made black turtleneck from the same brand. It had Owens’ Packers jersey number 34 written on it in blue. The brand also designed Simone-themed t-shirts (not for Simone) with collages of the gymnast that it showcased on Instagram in a July 18 post. Notably, the jacket is part of a new collection that the brand launched in April. And it has a unique connection to Simone.

The brand calls it The Pressed Tapestry collection. In an April 9 Instagram post, the brand stated that it was exclusively available to its VIP members on its website. Featuring Sarita herself wearing an NFL-themed jacket, it mentioned, “This one of one streetwear style design is a game day must have for the girl who wants to be sure to make a statement. This piece can be customized in a variety of styles with endless possibilities for a truly custom curated look.” As the post claimed Simone was one of its first “VIP” clients to choose the jacket.

While the piece Sarita sported in the accompanying clip was a hoodie without a zip, the post mentioned, “Shout out to @simonebiles for being our first zip up tapestry jacket and allowing us to capture content with her piece ❤️” Understandably, the jacket was curated while Owens was still a part of the Packers. Simone, back from Paris just days back, might not have got the time to acquire something Bears-themed. While she has yet to speak up to address the backlash, that did not stop her from enjoying her time in Chicago.

Biles’ Instagram account is filled with snapshots from throughout the day as the Houston native made the most of her time in the Windy City. She opted for a casual look, with the grey jacket being the main highlight of her outfit. She attended the game in Soldier Field with a friend, and the two were seen having a great time on Chicago’s home turf. From enjoying multiple drinks to making TikTok clips, Simone and her buddy kept themselves entertained, beaming with smiles throughout the day.

She also had the chance to pose with Jonathan on the field, proudly flaunting her jacket while her twinkling eyes revealed just how enamored she was with her NFL star husband. With the Bengals and Bears each having six victories against each other, their match is a big deal for fans on both sides. Despite Simone’s outfit controversy, the game ended well with the Bears defeating the Bengals 27-3. That apparently prompted the duo to celebrate occasion and they did it in style.

Simone and Jonathan enjoyed a dinner with friends and family at Maple & Ash. Furthering Simone’s Olympic triumph, she shared a snap of her and the Owens posing together as she held up a menu that read: “OLYMPIC F*@KING CHAMPION.” In one more post, the two were seen to raise their glasses as they shared a toast with the rest of the table to celebrate their recent wins.
