In early December last year, Green Bay Packers vs Kansas City Chiefs was all the talk leading to the game. While the two teams were going against each other for the first time since the 2021 campaign, the whole focus however remained split. The most decorated gymnast of all time, Simone Biles, and America’s pop sensation, Taylor Swift’s arrival at Lambeau, framed the news rather majorly.

Simone Biles has been a constant at Jonathan Owens games when she is not out conquering stages. On December 3rd, the situation was no different as the 7-time Olympic medalist arrived to lend her support. However, what added more excitement to the story was Taylor’s presence in support of her boyfriend and Chiefs Tight end, Travis Kelce. Having shared a history of doting moments, fans eagerly awaited the two inspirational women’s interaction; even for a brief moment. But at the end of the game, fans were disappointed. Here’s why.

3 reasons why Simone Biles – Taylor Swift meet-up did not happen

Simone Biles and Swift share a history of moments spent in each other’s support. The knowledge only added to the fans’ excitement as the two made their way to Lambeau. However, according to Simone’s recent interview with Vanity Fair, the gymnast did not share the same emotion. “It’s a little bit weird because I’m like, This is definitely not my gig,” she said further admitting that a little attention comes with anxiety for her. But that did not act as a reason for the failure.

One of the first reasons was that the game yielded no clicks of the two together. “There was no selfie,” Biles told in the interview. Being in the same space, fans expected to find the two in a frame, but it was only withered with the next reason. They sat in different stands. While Biles was photographed rather close to the grounds, Taylor was seen in another section alongside Brittany Mahomes. Moreover, the circumstances by the end of the game weren’t ideal for the Chiefs fans.

“And I’m not sure they were exactly happy that the Packers were beating them,” Simone Biles told Vanity Fair marking the third reason. The Packers beat the Chiefs 27-19 for a home turf win. The simple distances stood to shatter the hopes of a meet-up for many.

A wait in anticipation

Simone Biles and Taylor Swift share a history of interaction that dates way back to 2016 and last one in 2021. Thus watching the two icons interact was all the pop fans awaited at the game. “Yes!! Literally like the best of the best. I love it. I want them to take a selfie,” one of the many tweets read. “Simone Biles and Taylor Swift are both at Green Bay DO YOU HEAR ME FREAKING SCREAMING DO YOU?!” another read. Interestingly, it was just the fans. The Today Show host was just as eager about the interaction.  “I’d like to see you and Taylor [Swift]. It’d be really cute; it’d be a nice photo op,” they said.

Though the game at Lambeau may have come as a disappointment, future games look quite positive with Simone Biles’ awareness of the excitement.
