American athletic power couple Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are causing a stir in their respective sports this year. Amid their career lows from the NFL undrafted season and the Tokyo Olympics withdrawal, the couple grew stronger. The public scrutiny served as the catalyst for their comebacks this year. After getting married in April, Owens accepted a $1.1 million free-agent offer from the Green Bay Packers. Unwilling to leave Texas, Biles stayed back to focus on gymnastics while Owens moved to Wisconsin for practice. Putting their careers first the couple soon shifted to a digital presence with FaceTime, calls and texts as sources of communication.

Their skills finally paid off – shutting the mythical idea of age limit in gymnastics Biles became the oldest gymnast to win Championships. While she secured her feats, Owens helped the Packers score wins in two preseason matches. As Owens’ most recent achievement called for celebration, the faraway couple shared a strong message.

The 26-year-old gymnast reclaimed her reigning all-around title after her two-day astounding performance at the U.S. Gymnastics Championship in San Jose. Her victory coincided with Jonathan Owens’ 53-man roster selection by the Packers. This feat was followed by two preseason wins out of the three matches played by his team.

As the Packers officially declared their list on their Instagram post, Biles posted an Instagram story captioned “34” with a green heart. Owens re-posted the Instagram story adding, “Keep proving them wrong!!”

The Packers’ decision to keep Jonathan Owens at safety instead of Tarvarius Moore is the one that raised many questions on the internet. However, due to a slight knee injury, Moore missed Saturday’s preseason game against Seattle. While on the field, he was a superior player to Owens, he played far less than his reputation. Despite Moore’s two classic tackles in the first preseason game against Cincinnati, it was a reasonable choice to pick Owens rather than the seasoned player with an injury.

Many rumors claimed that the Green Bay Packers will have Owens as a strong contender as opening safety. David Savage, the Packers’ fifth-season safety returner was his most formidable opponent for the position this year. Notably, for most of the training camp, the Packers’ 34th jersey bearer ran with the No. 1 defense.
