On the 12th of March, the reports on Jonathan Owens signing a new deal with Chicago Bears hit the community in excitement. The last season’s Green Bay Packers‘ safety will be joining the Bears as defensive back on a deal reading $4.5M over two years. As the spectators cheered, proud, and thrilled Simone Biles had the concern of traveling for a game ticked off of her list.

“I’m so excited about not having a connecting flight to go & see my husband hahahahaaha,” the Olympian posted on X relieved from her previous season worry. When Jonathan Owens played for the Packers, the distance between Texas and Wisconsin was Simone Biles’ biggest concern. Moreover, being a native of Houston, the gymnast had expressed her dislike towards the cold weather Green Bay adorned. Thus, signing with the Bears has brought along goodness in growth for Owens and pride, and access to Biles.

“Green Bay is tough bc there are no direct flights for us. I’m also afraid of the open dome / cold weather,” Simone Biles had previously remarked. The distance between the two cities marked a total of 1,096 miles while the temperatures floated around near-zeros during games. The gymnast had thus admitted that she had to carry warmers on the plane to beat the cold.

Battling through all the odds nonetheless, the 7-time Olympic medalist ensured to make it to the stands to cheer on her husband. The odds have been the two to blaze through and the growth the two to embrace.

As aforementioned Simone Biles has often proven to be Owens’ biggest cheerleader. During the match against the Kansas City Chiefs, when the temperatures dropped to below zero, the gymnast arrived packed in multiple layers to catch on the action right from the stands. Thus, a visible and notable growth in her husband’s resume doesn’t look to be lost on Biles anytime soon.

“So incredibly proud of my husband the grind never stops! this is just the beginning!” Biles exclaimed on X as Owens continued on his path upward.  The Olympian also expressed her joy over loving the city and having the opportunity to catch up on a good ‘Pizza and hotdog’. “F YEAH,” were the gymnast’s words. As she continued to express her excitement on social media over a new chapter, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens ensured not to blindside the generosity Packers fans lent the two.

“Just wanted to say thank you Packer Nation for embracing my husband & I, green bay will always hold a special place in our hearts!” Biles wrote and Owens seconded. The journey has become one for the couple to tread together.
