Do Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens deserve the criticism, or is it just unwarranted negativity?

Jonathan Owens’s usual pre-gameday routine? He wakes up, gets dressed, and eats a bowl of spaghetti with meat sauce for breakfast. Marching on to Soldier Field, he Face-times his wife. Long distance is a staple for couples who are professional athletes, but this weekend was special. The Gold Over America Tour duties are over for now. So, a date night with cocktails and dinner was in order, post which, Biles arrived to support her favorite safety on the Sunday NFL game.

Dolled up in Bears gear, a white overall outfit seems to be Biles’s go-to style for her NFL outings — a white hoodie with Chicago lettering up front, white leggings, and black boots. It is certainly routine stuff for Biles as the bye-week last month saw Owens helping the seven-time Olympic gold medalist with her stunts, visiting arcade games, luxurious shopping spree, and many restaurants. So, what really ticked off NFL fans?

Could it be because the Bears were not able to win a single game ever since they came out of the bye? Well, it was the third game since the bye week ended and the Week-10 game against the New England Patriots was a no-show again with the Bears losing out 19-3 to a six-point road underdog. Not only that but the Patriots’ nine sacks were tied for the second-most in a game in franchise history! The Bears now stand at 4-5, but apparently, even that wasn’t it for NFL fans to get hot under their collar!

Have an interesting take?

Oh, you heard that right! While Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens were the golden duo of the Paris Olympics and the Gold Over America tour, the vibe shifted this time around. Quick jibes were first thrown at the couple; some weren’t quite as warm and others voiced their disapproval. One user even dropped a snarky comment, calling Jonathan “Mr. and Mrs. Simone Biles.” It looks like it came from when an NFL commentator called Owens “Mr. Biles” after he scored a touchdown during the Chicago Bears vs. Tennessee Titans game.

And oh, it didn’t stop there! Another user chimed in, poking fun at the situation, saying, “Isn’t it crazy that football fans just want to see football, especially from the NFL page? 😂 But hey, any chance they get to tag an account with 2+ million followers, you know they’re taking it! 😂” While the NFL’s official page boasts a whopping 37 million followers on X, Simone Biles has her own loyal following that is 2 million strong!

Reactions just kept pouring in! Even the Detroit Times couldn’t resist chiming in, commenting, “Congratulations on their awesome relationship but I don’t think anyone needed this post 😭”
