Today, Simone Biles is an athlete the entire world looks up to. However, it’s not solely because of her Olympic glory or incredible career. Instead, it’s because of the change she brought to the world of sports. She has inspired a generation of athletes and professionals. Her contribution to mental health awareness and her career achievements is what will be her legacy when she bid farewell to gymnastics.

Simone’s mother never thought her career would be this big

It was tough to predict Simone’s career trajectory while she was still in her junior years. However, when she won the all-around title at the 2013 world championship, the world was in awe of her talent and skill. Her mother said“I remember staying up late just reading stuff on the internet like crazy.”

Though it was not until she repeatedly delivered blockbuster performances one after the other that her mother realized she was special. “I have never in my wildest dreams thought this was going to happen. And that’s when I realized this was different because it was in newspapers in different languages…. I picked up newspapers I couldn’t even read but they had my daughter’s picture in them,” added Nellie Biles.
