The Oregon State Beavers’ NCAA gymnastics season has been going swell so far. With a comfortable 9-4 overall record, the Beavers are dreaming big for the national title. Their last two home games saw the Beavers triumph over heavyweight opponents, and now, the OSU women’s gymnastics squad is bracing up for another major clash. Only last week, the Beavers took down the mighty Arizona State Sun Devils with a resounding win, and are now looking forward to retaining the winning streak once again on home soil.

The OSU Beavers are set to host the Washington GymDawgs on Saturday (March 8) in Corvallis for the Pac-12 conference. The Pac-12 has seen some incredible performances in recent weeks, and the upcoming NCAA gymnastics match is expected to offer some more thrilling moments as well.

In the latest Instagram post, the official OSU Beavers account fueled more air into the anticipatory fires. “For one last time in 2024… it’s time to FILL GILL‼️“, reads the caption of the post, as the post looks to its fans to fill up the Gill Stadium once again. Ariana Young and Sydney Gonzales can be seen having a candid moment in the accompanying image. While Gonzalez wasn’t part of the team that subdued the Sun Devils last weekend, Young was one of the crucial driving forces in the 197.400-196.625 win.

However, it looks like the WCGA All-American honoree is set to make a comeback later today. Last week’s clash against Arizona State saw several Beavers achieve new career highs. The win saw the Beavers’ 17th 197 or higher point of the season, with the beam and floor teams going all-out with their performances. Jade Carey and Ariana Young both set new career-high marks and led the Beavers to a thumping win.

On the bars, the OSU team registered an incredible 49.475 with Sophia Esposito, Taylor DeVries, and Jennifer McMillan, all leaving their mark with absolution. Young stole the show in the third rotation with a 9.900 on the balanced beam. Understandably, expectations are running high after OSU dominated two big opponents in back-to-back weeks. But their route is not going to be easy.

Two teams, high on spirit, set to lock horns

Despite, the NCAA gymnastics powerhouse OSU boasting a formidable squad, the GymDawgs will also pose a significant challenge. Last weekend, the Washington team picked up the first spot in the Boise State Quad Meet and are running high on their victory. On the other hand, in the week prior to the match against the Sun Devils, the OSU team was handed a major defeat on the road by Arizona. However, the Beavers look to be in a peppy mood, providing fans some much-needed assurance.

Washington also faced defeats to both the Arizona gymnastics teams over the last few weeks, and understandably, the record makes the imminent battle all the more intriguing. On the other hand, while the Beavers have incredible depth in their attack, the floor team is shaping up to be the savior in troubled times. It remains to be seen if the Beavers can maintain its winning run in the upcoming clash. It commences at 7 p.m. A ceremony to recognize OSU’s seniors will take place after the meet’s conclusion.
