LSU Tigers have a strong historical record against Auburn, proving their dominance once again. LSU has a history of triumphing at home, winning eight straight meets against Auburn in the PMAC since 2006. Now, they have recorded yet another victory. The Tigers won the meet with a score of 198.300-197.100, winning nine times in a row against Auburn.

Kiya Johnson’s crowd-favorite performance on Beams sets record

LSU Gymnastics took to its official Twitter handle @LSUgym to update fans about the phenomenal performance of senior year Kiya Johnson, in the tussle with Auburn. The No. 3 LSU Gymnastics team hosted the No. 12 Auburn Tigers in a Friday Night Heights competition at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, securing a phenomenal victory. The post reads, “Appreciation post for Kiya Johnson pt.975986. It’s a season-high 9.95 for the senior.”

Kiya Johnson, who competes all-around has a record of being a 9-time All-American, collecting a number of accolades for LSU across her collegiate career. Johnson’s performances against Auburn on vault, bars, and beam on Feb 16 were noteworthy. Now, she is reigning atop with a season-high score of 9.95 on the beam which was a crowd favorite. She broke all season records with her score. From her solid 9.850 on vault to her impressive 9.875 on bars, it helped to rally the LSU Tigers to victory in front of the sold-out crowd of 12,740 at the PMAC.

One step closer to the SEC title

Besides Johnson, other key gymnasts gave electrifying standout performances. Aleah Finnegan scored a perfect 10 on the floor. Not only this, several Tigers achieved personal milestones. Cowan and Jeffrey took to set their career highs on bars and beam.

LSU has recorded 6 wins and 2 losses this season, with 3 SEC titles to date, as now it is aiming for its fourth win. Auburn, on the other hand, has faced 5 wins and 5 losses, winning the SEC title once.

Now, with the winning streak extending to three meets in a row, the LSU Tigers are edging closer to the SEC title.
