The Arkansas Razorbacks haven’t been having the best NCAA season in 2024 when it comes to women’s gymnastics. With a 3-4-1 overall record, the team is still struggling to find its feet. At the recently held Metroplex Challenge too, the Razorbacks placed third in four teams. However, their night ended on a positive note as they bounced back from two losses against UCLA and Oklahoma to register a win over Washington.

The win was further sweetened by two Arkansas gymnasts putting up the highest number on the scoreboards in two events. While Oklahoma walked away from Fort Worth with the highest score (198.300), the Razorbacks at least had some boasting rights at the end of the meet.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the official account of Arkansas Gymnastics shared news of the team’s exploits from last night. Captioned, “Gymbacks take third at Metroplex!” the post highlights the women’s squad’s impressive results (196.800). While many would argue that the Razorbacks could have faired better against their NCAA opponents, two Arkansas athletes stood away from the rest of their teammates to ensure they had something to show for.

Williams earns a share of the vault title and Price also ties for first on floor“, reads the post further, highlighting how the Razorback athletes managed to bring glory to the program on an otherwise disappointing night. Lauren Williams received 9.95 and 9.90 from the two judges respectively (averaging 9.925) to win the vault event title of the night. On the other hand, Frankie Price of Arkansas tied for the highest score in the floor exercise (9.950).

With both Oklahoma and UCLA stomping over the Razorbacks in the other two matches, Williams and Price’s performances will surely work as a morale booster in the difficult times. However, considering their previous losing streak, not everything was disheartening for the Razorbacks.
