On one hand, elite gymnasts have the Paris Olympics in mind. On the other hand, there are collegiate gymnasts locking horns in the meet season to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships. Besides international gymnastics, collegiate competitions are also equally important.

Every week we behold some stellar displays of the collegiate women. Stepping into a fresh week, the Iowa State women, who made some heads turn at a tri-meet a while ago, will look to nab victory this time. But who are they going against? Let’s have a look.

Utah State Gymnastics’ Instagram post reads, “Senior Night at the Spectrum this week! Boise State | Iowa State | Texas Woman’s”. Scheduled in Logan, Utah, the Iowa Hawkeyes will pitch up for back-to-back meets against Boise State, Texas Women’s Utah State, and Southern Utah. On Friday 23rd, at 7 pm, fans can behold yet another spectacle. The team’s aim is 196, especially considering their last performance score of 195, they’ll attempt to surpass it. Accepting defeat to the Minnesota squad in their second meet this season was already a bummer. Following, Adeline Kenlin’s injury during the Hawkeyes’ full-on with Southern Utah was a salt sprinkle on the cut.

“Iowa’s Adeline Kenlin appears to have been injured on vault. She landed awkwardly on her Yurchenko full and took multiple hops back, winced, motioned to her ankle, and training staff helped her off the mat”, the news stirred the internet as she was spotted on the crutches. But the stars of the NCAA Gymnastics Madelyn Manternach and Emilie Hong had sparked hope with their exceptional performances. This being said, coach  Ashley Miles Greig looks to let the girls unlock their abilities to the maximum at the meet starting Friday.

A look at the latest tri-meet performance

Going against No.7 Denver and West Virginia, No. 24 Iowa finished second in the end. After making 195.675, the head coach said, “It was really cool to come into a great environment with the Beauty and the Beast as well as a tri-meet going on simultaneously. Unfortunately, this was not the result we were looking for, and we ended up facing some challenges today”.

She further continued, “We had to make some changes to the lineups. However, we still have an opportunity to find out what works for us and continue to build and get back to performing to our ability.” Though the team has faced setbacks in the past few days, their way of going about it may bring home a win from the upcoming tri-meet.
