Home/Gymnastics

The NCAA Gymnastics season is approaching and everyone is getting ready for the new season! From the beginning of January to April 17 to 19, there will be the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships featuring incredible talent in gymnastics in several rounds before the championship. Looking at the regional meetings and the national event, there will be stiff competition and a lot of fun for participants and spectators alike.

On the other hand, new gymnasts in the teams as the season approaches are rising to the occasion. November also saw Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach K.J. Kindler add four impressive gymnasts to the team’s roster. The most awaited 2025 class is the first on the list, and according to CollegeGymNews.com, they are the best in the country. Among them are Mackenzie Estep, Ella Murphy, Kamila Pawlak, and Blakely Roten. And now one of these gymnastics stars’ nearly flawless performances has fans optimistic for the Sooners!

Just the other day, Mackenzie Estep took to Instagram to share an impressive video from Ascend Gymnastics. In the clip, she nailed a smooth triple dismount on the uneven bars, landing it buttery soft. The caption? “Seeing triple 🎯🎯🎯 #gymnast #gymnastics #level10 #ascendgymnastics #bars #season #triple #stuck.” Fans and fellow gymnasts couldn’t get enough of it!

Planet of Gymnastics even reposted the video on their account with the caption, “The prettiest dismount combo I’ve seen in a MINUTE @mackenzie.estep2025 😍.” The video perfectly highlighted Mackenzie’s effortless skill and control, leaving everyone in awe. It’s clear—Oklahoma is getting a good one!

The routine was enchanting from the word go–she got into the bars with appropriate control and then got into two strong swings and came off the bars. Then came the showstopper: a spectacular flipping three times in the air.

As Estep touched down, it was like her feet were magnetized to the floor—no wobbles, no hesitation, just perfection. One fan summed it up best, saying, “stuck like glue.” But that wasn’t the end of the love showered on this rising star. Fans flocked to the comments section, hyping her up with heartfelt praise and emojis galore.

Gymnastics community stunned by the triple!

And, of course, another user, Yulia Hancheroff, co-owner of Metropolitan Gym and Women’s Team head coach left the following comment: “Perfect! 🔥🔥🔥” And we can only fully agree! That’s not often you get to watch a young gymnast perform such a challenging routine flawlessly and stick the landing like butter but Mackenzie Estep, the pride of Auburn, Washington State, is not made of the same mold. She is already making waves as a Level 10 gymnast of the Ascend Gymnastics coached by Brett Wargo, Sarah Korngold, and Chris Pitre.

But wait folks, there is more to the story! When Mackenzie Estep came to the Sooners even the head coach K.J. Kindler could not hide her enthusiasm. “Kenz was fiercely pursued by every program in the country,” Kindler said, glowing with pride. “She has intangible qualities that enhance her physical talents and make her incredibly special. She is driven, confident, dedicated, and full of life. She is always going over and above what is expected or required.” Talk about a coach’s dream! fans are going to her latest performances, and leaving comments that describe her abilities to a T. Another enthusiast could not resist and said, “The pointed toes through the whole dismount 😍 And you can tell too, that is what is keyyy.” It’s the little details, like those picture-perfect toes, that set her apart and have everyone hyped about her future.

Another fan could not help but write “TOO GOOD!!” in the comment section, and this was not just any fan, but Kamila Pawlak, one of the other fresh faces that signed for the Sooners alongside Estep. And if that wasn’t enough hype, Ella Murphy, yet another newbie to the OU fam, chimed in with, “SOOO GOOD🔥🔥🔥.” Well, given how teammates are already hyping her up like this, we know for sure Estep’s star power is a fact! But can we even blame them for the hype? Mackenzie Estep’s resume is a giant mic drop of amazing accomplishments. She has been a four-time Nastia Liukin Cup Qualifier and brings five national titles and 10 national medals with her to Norman.

And let’s not forget her three titles in 2023 on beam, floor, and all around. She has claimed a 2022 vault championship, bars gold in 2021, and she has three national vault medals, bars, beam, and floor. Need more proof? She has 15 top 10 finishes at the Nastia Liukin Cup; the floor second and the vault fourth in the previous year. And this is not all about her dominance in all the above aspects of life! She already has 15 regional titles, three consecutive on vault and floor from 2021-23, and 12 Washington State titles across all events. Sooner fans had better brace themselves because Estep is about to glow more than a Christmas tree and the NCAA Championships are going to be more exciting than ever!
