Before heading into this year’s first Spring Breakout, LSU Tigers’ top gymnast Olivia Dunne was excited thinking of her boyfriend Paul Skenes’s prospect. The MLB raconteurs aired specifics regarding Paul’s lofty performance chance among the top young names participating in the Spring Breakout. But the Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitcher received extra hype because of his rivalry against the 2022 top draft pick Jackson Holliday. Both young guns had faced off earlier and gifted audiences a starter for the season. Yesterday marked the culmination of their showcase.

For Olivia Dunne, that reason was enough to drop her gymnastics persona and wear the Pirates’ boots. Eventually, she owned the situation after Paul Skenes gave her the reasons to.

In adding her glee about her boyfriend’s performance, Olivia Dunne put two words on her IG story on Friday. The posted snippet displayed Paul Skenes’s three pitch-strikeouts from last evening. In the battle against Orioles Prospects, Skenes humbled Jackson Holliday and Enrique Bradfield Jr. (the no. 6 prospect from the Orioles). Meanwhile, the spree of success drove Livvy to garnish the success with the words, “slayed that”. The LSU Baseball’s X handle rejoiced in the moment by sharing the visual from Florida as well. 

For the loving couple, the result of the face-off added additional joy. In the slated fight among the prospects, the Pirates edged out the Orioles with a scoreline of 3-1 last evening in Florida. In the Pitchers’ PIP after the match, Livvy’s boyfriend topped the list with zero errors, and the K score touched 2. The overall performance touched the former LSU standout as well. “It was nice, I love competing against guys like that. Obviously I knew the hype around that matchup. I’ve been saying it for a little bit, but he and I are going to have a lot more opportunities to face each other in the future”, Paul conceded after the match. The occasion almost emulated the climate when the last time the Pirates locked horns against the Orioles and sent perfect joy to Olivia Dunne. 

An almost similarly stunning performance and cheers from the heart 

In Sarasota last month, Paul Skenes caused havoc with a fastball, touching the speedometer at 102 mph. Eventually, the performance reached another level with a perfect pitching inning of 1-2-3. However, Paul’s staggering effort went in vain as the Pittsburgh Pirates lost that fight against the Baltimore Orioles. But his scoring ability earned him praise from his girlfriend Olivia Dunne that day. Moreover, that day in Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota penned the first episode of the rivalry between Paul Skenes and Jackson Holliday.
