Baby Gronk, Rizz, and Olivia Dunne have been everywhere lately. But not everyone knows what they mean or why they’re going viral. It all started in March 2024 when Baby Gronk (Madden San Miguel), an 11-year-old football prodigy, met LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne in a video shared by his parents. The clip went viral when TikTok user h00pify joked, “Livvy rizzed him up.” It made “rizz” a hot slang for charm. The term quickly caught on. And it put Baby Gronk in the spotlight, linking him to Dunne’s massive social media presence.

But as 2025 rolled in, Baby Gronk’s social media presence took a hit. After the TikTok ban in January, some fans who had once supported him started to sour. The ‘rizz’ that had made him a star, along with his 2.9M TikTok following, began to stir up frustration, and it wasn’t long before backlash followed, with many considering unfollowing him. But what exactly happened that made fans turn on him and almost hit that unfollow button?

On January 19th, the same day TikTok was banned in the U.S. for national security reasons, Baby Gronk shifted his focus to Instagram. He teamed up with Olivia Dunne, hoping to replicate his TikTok success on a new platform. Baby Gronk, with her 637K followers, posted a video with Olivia Dunne, aiming to make a similar connection with fans. However, things didn’t go as planned.

In the video, Olivia, a senior gymnast at LSU, is seen wearing a jersey and telling Baby Gronk, “Don’t do it, Baby Gronk, don’t do it.” The transition then cuts to Baby Gronk, grinning with his mouth wide open to reveal diamonds covering his teeth, which immediately upset fans. Many felt it was inappropriate, especially since he’s only 11 years old.

The controversy didn’t end there. Baby Gronk was also seen wearing a diamond necklace, and Olivia Dunne playfully said, “There he goes again.” To top it off, the background music played “White Tee” by Summer Walker, with the caption reading, “Livvy couldn’t handle the rizz face.” This combination of luxury and youthful bravado didn’t sit well with fans, and it quickly sparked outrage, with many accusing him of trying too hard to maintain his “rizz” persona.

One fan added, “Can’t wait for the mass unfollow.” While another added, “Bro, just stop ur embarrassing urself.” Well, this isn’t the first time he’s faced trolling. When Baby Gronk was just 8 years old, he became a sensation on the internet. At the time, he was a shockingly large third grader, standing at 44’9″ and weighing 88 pounds.

His social media rise was fueled by videos showcasing his football skills. And his larger-than-life persona, drawing attention from sports media outlets. It even earned him a feature in Sports Illustrated. Since then, he’s been making headlines, but getting trolled is nothing new for him.

One of the moments that sparked trolling and criticism was a post showing Baby Gronk wearing a flashy diamond necklace. Many viewers felt it was inappropriate for such a young child to be presented in this manner, and it only added fuel to the fire of concerns about the pressure and exploitation he might be facing. One fan quipped, “Negative riz,” while another added, “Baby Gronk mass unfollowing.” Yet another wondered, “Doesn’t Bro still lose teeth?” and someone else simply said, “Dumbest shit ever.

One more chimed in, “Was this sh*t meant to be funny?” Even before that, Olivia Dunne shared a video on Instagram. She bid farewell to TikTok, where she had 8.1 million followers, in a humorous way after the platform was banned in the United States. Partnering with Baby Gronk, she filmed a playful skit where Baby Gronk asks, “Livvy, can we make a TikTok?” to which Dunne, in a mockingly sad tone, responds, “Baby, there’s no TikTok.

The video showed their shared disappointment over the ban, especially since both influencers had built their followings from the ground up. But now, with Olivia and Baby Gronk shifting their focus to Instagram, it seems Baby Gronk almost got the unfollow treatment before that.
