The faceoff happened on Saturday, January 4, in the sunny skies of Oceanside, California, where two Pac-12 rivals were reacquainted in a battle. All three teams were ranked in the preseason top 20, with California occupying the No. 4 spot, UCLA at No. 10, and Oregon State at No. 19. But, the Beavers had the last word, and Jade Carey and her team triumphed over UCLA in a stunning and determined manner.

The Oregon Beavers took the feels to X after their season opener, sharing a picture of the last score. The results? Oregon led with 195.775, California surpassed them with 196.275, and UCLA finished with 195.250. Their official account kept it short and sweet, captioning the post with, “That’s a wrap on the season opener.” But hey, let’s get real here—the Beavers probably wanted to make sure everyone understood they were just getting started. With an impressive 9.875 on the vault, a sharp 9.900 on the uneven bars, a stunning 9.950 on the balance beam, and a strong 9.900 on the floor exercise, she showcased exceptional skill across all events. Her outstanding performance culminated in an all-around score of a dazzling 39.625, solidifying her as a standout competitor.

Not even the ‘planet of gymnastics’ could save itself, posting a video of her holy grail floor routine on Instagram with the caption, “@jadecarey the icon that you are!!!!!!”. Jade pulled off a flawless double-double like it was a walk in the park, landing with such precision it gave chills.
