Simone Biles reveals the reason behind her rhinestone-embellished leotard
Biles attended an interview through the video conferencing format to promote their ongoing Gold Over America Tour in 2021. Athleta, with whom she signed an agreement a few months before the commencement of the Tokyo Olympics, sponsored the event.
It marked her break from her long-time sponsor, Nike. The contract’s terms agreed to hold a tour for the Olympic female gymnastics team after returning from the meet. And there they were, attending the interview from one of their long list of venues.
To interview the seven-time Olympic medalist appeared for was ?The Real Daytime?. And the show was hosted by Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai Jenkins. Jordan Chiles, who was touring with the team, also joined Biles for the interview.
Jenkins inquired the reason for the rhinestone-bedazzled goat head leotard during the show. The gymnast replied, ?Yeah, so it was actually to kind of **** off my haters because they were like… So I was like, ?You know what, let’s just put it on the leo because the fans loved it, and the haters hated it.? So I got the best book.?
Expressing her motive behind embellishing the leotard with a goat-shaped rhinestone, she added, ?It’s not like I put myself on a different pedestal or anything. It’s just for the fans and for the haters.?

Biles initially donned a GOAT on her leotard at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in 2019. And the athlete maintains that she wore it for a similar purpose, as stated in the interview. However, she started it as a joke at the time. It was to annoy her critics and people offended by her GOAT status.
But as time went by, it took on a different meaning. It became a symbol of empowerment and self-confidence. During an interview with a prominent magazine, the gymnast stated that people hardly accept their strengths and abilities. Moreover, she finds it hard to reason with the consensus that acknowledging one?s skills is a sign of weakness.
