With great passion, LSU hopes to win its first-ever NCAA women’s gymnastics championship. The Tigers, headed by senior gymnast Olivia Dunne, are motivated to make this season their best yet, even though they suffered a setback in their defeat to No. 1 South Carolina. Known for her skills on the gymnastics mat as well as her status as the “most followed NCAA athlete on social media,” Dunne adds a special combination of social media celebrity and athleticism to the squad.
With a seven-figure income that has been profiled in Time, Forbes, and SI Swimsuit, the 21-year-old gymnast famously known as Livvy is capping off a successful year away from gymnastics mats. Leaving one burning question: How good is Livvy in her core sport?

Livvy started gymnastics at the young age of three. She competed in state, regional, and national events, and her best performance was at the Eastern National Academy of Paramus. She is from New Jersey. Dunne, who attended Abeka Academy while homeschooling, improved her floor, beam, and bar routines to the point that she qualified for major competitions such as the 2020 Nastia Liukin Cup, the 2016 and 2017 P&G Championship, and the 2017 U.S. Classic.
Dunne made an instant impression after accepting a full athletic scholarship at LSU in 2021. She was named All-America on the uneven bars in her rookie season after turning in standout performances at the SEC and NCAA finals. Despite obstacles during the NCAA regional semifinals, she demonstrated her fortitude and dedication to the team. Sadly, she missed the whole 2023 season due to a leg injury before making a victorious comeback versus Alabama.
Livvy is still a strong athlete on the mat, even though her social media following frequently eclipses her talent in gymnastics. The range of her skills is not typically recognized since many know her for sharing glimpses of her routines online. Dunne is determined to leave a lasting impression on the gymnastics world and bring the Tigers to victory as she begins her last year at LSU.
LSU’s SEC record so far
Motivated by the team’s pursuit of a national title, LSU puts a great deal of importance on the 2024 season. The Tigers have had an outstanding season, leading the SEC and earning the third-best national rating, despite their injury struggles in the previous campaign. The balancing beam, which is ranked No. 25 nationally, has been a cause for concern, though.

This is an oddity, especially given how talented LSU’s roster is. Dunne’s leadership and gymnastic skills will be essential as the season goes on to help the team overcome obstacles and go closer to winning the coveted NCAA women’s gymnastics championship. Under Dunne’s direction, the Tigers want to surpass obstacles and make a lasting impression on the LSU gymnastics history.
