The LSU Tigers’ gymnast Olivia Dunne boasts of having 5.1 million fans on her IG handle. On other social media platforms as well, she reigns over millions of fans. In the meantime, many individuals often consider the gymnastic ingenue as a trendsetting personality because she has such a degree of fandom on social media that’s cemented her place in gymnastics glory.
In some ways, this reason has worked behind Olivia Dunne’s successful brand engagements. However, recently, one such brand engagement has brought a different result for Livvy. After showcasing her fantabulous avatar donning the brand’s wearings, Olivia Dunne drew an unprecedented limelight from her followers. In the meantime, Livvy had to respond with a quirky comment when things touched the upper ceiling.

After winning the NCAA Gymnastics Regionals, Olivia Dunne found her solace in her Baton Rouge abode. In celebrating the peaceful moment, the 21-year-old gymnast garnished herself with a one-piece from the Vuori brand. Livvy couldn’t hide her awe in that black dress as she soon posted multiple selfies of her avatar on IG. However, the IG handle Hudson Winter sang an exorbitant paean for the Tiger lady under that post, dismantling things. Admitting his love for Livvy, the fan even claimed, “You are my everything.” Such a forward admittance left Livvy less satisfied and more disgruntled at the situation. So, her reply was, “I’m scared“, probably with a hint of jest. Things took a sharp turn from there.

Several fanatics gathered there to show their disgust at Hudson Winter’s comment. The maximum vote went for drawing a line between the actual fanatics and the loathed “weirdo and psycho” ones in the crowd of followers. However, for Olivia Dunne, such an uncontrolled outpouring from her fans is not new. In the past, even the NCAA gymnastics had to pay a price for that.
The unrestrained fandom creates more low
Last year, in Salt Lake City, Olivia Dunne’s LSU Tigers squad appeared against the University of Utah. The gymnast couldn’t appear in the battle because of her prolonged injury. However, a group of raging individuals protested there, asking for Livvy’s attendance in the battle. The violent group chanted and sloganeered in Olivia’s name.

The concerted shouting went ahead as “We want Livvy! Give us Livvy!” Things went down south, as the security arrangement had to be increased in the following game of LSU Tigers. In the home matches as well, Tigers’ HC Jay Clark called for more stringent security actions to avoid such occurrences. Even the internal policies underwent an upheaval as the management barred players from meeting their fans and families in the stands for a longer time after the game. However, this time, Olivia Dunne herself had to take a first-hand account of an overwhelming fanaticism.
