As a celebrity athlete, Simone Biles has hundreds and thousands of followers. Her current following on her Instagram is a massive 6.9 million. As a result, she is the target of many companies and pages on Instagram. And the one way they try to reach her is by using Instagram bots. These bots help companies in garnering followers, which further increases their accounts’ reach.
However, bots can irritate you and mess up your feed, especially if you are the main target of hundreds of companies. Simone Biles is tired of these bots. She called out to Instagram on Monday, asking them to fix this issue of bots.

Simone Biles is tired of this Instagram feature
Notably,?bots?help garner followers and reach. What bots do is add comments on posts with relevant hashtags. However, since it is a bot, it does not take into account any caption or the context of the post itself. Only the hashtags are of concern for the bots.
It may lead to necessary and unrelated comments on your posts. These comments may look like they are from a regular person, but in reality, they are not. Due to these bot activities, you might not see the posts from people you are interested in interacting with.
“@instagram control the bots. I’m OVER IT. Pls and thanks,” posted Biles via a story, rolling her eyes in frustration.

Simone Biles?has millions of followers. She is a big target on Instagram, no doubt about that. But, this wreaks the experience of using the app for her, as she won’t be able to see posts from people she followed in the first place. Most of the posts she will see would be from these bots.
Impact of Instagram bots
Instagram bots can, however, have a significant impact on your account. And it’s not all good. As mentioned, bots don’t necessarily mean any real engagement. Moreover, it impacts your feed.

In addition, bots can also lead to shadow banning. Instagram notices when your activity changes highly. This can cause your posts to disappear from others’ feeds regardless of how many relevant hashtags you use.

Most importantly, bots violate Instagram’s Terms of Use. This in itself can be a great risk for your account.
