Gymnastics and Simone Biles have become synonymous over the years, given the baggage of accolades she is carrying. Biles is not just the face but also the spirit of gymnastics. Despite having exponential growth on the professional side, her private life, particularly her childhood, is heartrending for fans.

The gymnast does not share a conventional mother-daughter relationship with Shanon Biles, her biological mother. Referring to the same, Shanon once expressed her wish to keep the whole scenario before her.

Three-year-old Simone Biles, and her siblings, were introduced to foster care as their biological mother fought with alcohol and drug abuse. 

Finally, when she turned six, her grandparents decided to adopt her. Since then, Simone treats them as her actual parents. Their strong bond makes Shanon hesitate to open up about the past to the Olympian. Shanon Biles once revealed her wish to unfold the truth before the gymnast.

“I want to tell her what really happened when I was younger, but I keep waiting for the right time,” said Biles’ biological mother. “There’s a lot of stuff I want to talk to Simone about but I’ve been respecting them [Ronald and Nellie]” 

Since 2007, Shanon has been sober and worked hard to live a regular and happy life. Despite being her biological mother, Shanon knows she lost her right to look after Biles.

She’s aware that rushing the process to build a bond with Biles won’t bring any excellent results. Therefore, she wants to go slow and take one step at a time.

With seven Olympic medals and several other titles, the athlete proved her superiority on the professional front. But Biles lacked that motherly love in her personal life for almost three years. A few years back, Simone posted a picture with Nellie and wished her a happy birthday.
