As a child, being separated from her biological parents must have been tough for Simone Biles. However, in the moment of crisis, her grandparents Ron and Nellie Biles came as a ray of hope. Since then, they’ve never left her side, and she knows she is blessed to have them in her life. Moreover, the gymnastics G.O.A.T. wishes to raise her kids as her parents raised her.

Before Ron and Nellie adopted Simone Biles and her younger sister Adria in 2003, she spent a couple of years in foster care because her biological parents were unfit to take care of their four children. However, ever since she came to live with her grandparents, she didn’t have to worry about anything. Therefore, she can’t help but gush over everything they have done for her.
What lesson did Simone Biles learn from her parents?
In becoming one of the greatest gymnasts of all time, Simone had the constant support of her parents. Although it’s not just about taking care of her, but rather the kind of upbringing they gave her. She recalls, “My parents growing up they kind of always wanted us to be our own person and to not be anybody else, and I feel like that’s why all the kids and I have been so successful in what we do.”
Perhaps this is the reason she is so adamant about raising her kids in the way her parents raised her.
She further added, “Just their love and their compassion that they had for us. I just hope to have that one day for my kids. So whenever I am older and teach them that because I think it’s a great lesson.”

What changed for Simone at the Tokyo Olympics?
Ever since the gymnastics legend started competing, her parents were always there in the stands to support her. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, they were forced to not be with her for the first time. Watching her parents cheering for her from the stands gave Simone a different kind of confidence. Perhaps the one she didn’t have during the Tokyo Olympics.
