Life teaches people the most important lessons, always in a surprising manner. Similarly, Simone Biles faced many obstacles throughout her life. The difficulties began when she had to leave her biological mother and move into foster care. Nevertheless, her mother’s parents adopted Simone and her siblings like sunlight on a rainy day. Since first meeting Ronald and Nellie, she has been grateful for their role as her parents.

Her biological mother became entangled in the mess of drugs and alcohol. During this period, her grandparents became the roots of her future and nurtured it. Simone’s legacy would not have been possible without them.

Simone Biles is grateful for her grandparents

Caring for a child is not easy, especially when they are your grandchildren. However, Nellie Biles cared for Simone like her own daughter. With tears in her eyes, the gymnast expressed gratitude to her grandparents for adopting her. She described how she never had a mother she could run to and tell her problems. She has suffered too much, from sleeping hungry to worrying about her siblings in foster care.

During the Dancing With the Stars episode, she addressed, “I never had mom to run to. I do remember always being hungry and afraid. At 3 years old, I was placed in foster care. Whenever we had visits with my grandpa, I was so excited. That was the person I always wanted to see walk into the foster home. My parents saved me. There’s nothing I could say to them to thank them enough.”

Simone has opened up about her concern for her. She once shared a story about a foster family that fed stray cats before feeding her. She is extremely grateful to her grandparents for giving her a second chance in life.

Nellie Biles craving for ‘Mother-Daughter’ bonding

There was a time when Simone’s grandmother, Nellie, craved a bonding with her. As reported by The Guardian, Nellie was concerned that she would fail to win the four-time Olympic gold medalist’s heart. As their biological mother spent less time with them, she became emotional as she spoke about their need for nourishment.

She also said, “I remember praying for that bonding because telling them that you love them and you care for them, that’s all words.” Simone and Nellie have developed an ever-deepening bond that has never faded with each passing year.
