Simone Biles has kept herself busy since reclaiming her gymnastics throne at the Paris Olympics. Immediately after that, she took off for the Gold Over America Tour, which got hoards of attention as it traveled through 30 cities. The gymnast has not stopped after that either, as she then got busy with the second season of her docuseries, Simone Biles’ Rising’s promotion, and then co-hosted America’s Got Talent. So, she has had a lot on her plate.

Now, she has added another feather in her cap as Simone Biles appeared in ‘The Voice’ in quite a unique role. The gymnastics GOAT recently paired with Snoop Dogg’s team as an advisor with the show entering its playoff stage. NBC confirmed her participation in an announcement made the previous week. They also confirmed that she would be working closely with the hip-hop legend, as it was he who elected the gymnast as the advisor to his team.

Now, another interview has been released by ET online to generate buzz in the show, where Simone Biles and Snoop answer questions together. During that time, the gymnast expressed her desire to perform a gymnastics routine to a Snoop Dogg tune in the future. The rapper had the perfect suggestion for this and recommended his 2004 song ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’ featuring Pharrell Williams. Simone immediately agreed to this, as she also felt it was very suitable for a routine.

However, Snoop had a condition for the gymnast, which had to be fulfilled if Simone Biles wanted permission for the song. He wanted a little taste of gymnastics. “I’ll let her use the song if she teaches me how to do one flip. Doesn’t have to be back. It can be a front flip,” he said. Simone was completely on board with this, saying, “I got you.” Thus, fans can expect this to happen in the future.

It would be interesting to see the gymnast perform a routine to a Snoop Dogg song, as it would be a massive tonal shift from her usual choice of artists like Taylor Swift. But the fans of the gymnast will still be eagerly waiting to see her perform on the big stage again. They are the ones who back her all the time, no matter what she appears in. However, the gymnast did face some criticism from them when it was first announced that she was about to appear in the show. Most brought up the fact that Simone lacks the proper musical talent to coach in the show.

Simone Biles faced heat from fans for her appearance

On November 21, it was announced that Simone Biles would make an appearance at The Voice as a mentor to Snoop Dogg’s team. While many expected this announcement to have a brilliant reception, it was far from that. Despite Simone having a large fanbase backing her, many struggled to see the reason behind her mentoring singers. While the gymnast is brilliant in her craft, she has never shown any signs of talent in music. This led to her receiving sharp criticism.

“I actually feel bad for the contestants on this team… they are getting zero credible musical advice,” said one fan. Most of them shared the same sentiment, as they couldn’t see the point in this whole thing. However, Snoop Dogg, who appointed the gymnast herself, had well-researched reasoning behind it. “She’s a performer. I’m a performer. We’ve performed under extreme conditions. We always do our best. But sometimes things happen behind closed doors that you don’t know about,” he said.

While music is obviously something Simone Biles doesn’t know much about, she definitely knows a thing or two about performing on the big stage. Thus, her selection as the mentor isn’t that shocking at all, as she could give the contestants tips on how to perform well at the most important part of the competition. Thus, the criticism might not be the most warranted here.
