Ever since Simone Biles started dating Jonathan Owens, fans claim it is the happiest they have seen her. After her shocking withdrawal from Tokyo Olympics 2020, she garnered attention from all corners of the world for her landmark decision.

Moreover, Simone met her boyfriend, American football player Jonathan Owens, in 2020 and soon the duo became Instagram’s favorite celebrity couple. However, having dated for over a year now, there seems to be one thing that is clearly visible; their height difference.

How tall is Simone Biles compared to Owens?

Given that gymnasts are usually short in stature, Biles has a significant height difference when standing next to her boyfriend, Jonathan Owens. Simone Biles stands at 1.42 meters, which is 4’8″ inches tall. As for Owens, he stands at 1.8 meters tall, which comes up to 5’11”. There is a difference of 15 inches between the two athletes.

Despite the height differences, their bond looks strong as they’re often spotted in the stands, supporting each other. Notably, Owen spoke about his relationship with Biles in an interview with GLAMOUR.

“It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off and she couldn’t do anything. So we used it to get to know each other—really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I’m so thankful,” said Owen.

Height differences between NFL players compared and gymnasts

The average height of a male American is 5 feet and 9 inches. However, it does not come close to a normal height of an American footballer. Standing at 5’11”, Owens is taller than Biles, who herself is taller than an average gymnast. Despite being 4’8″, Biles is not the shortest gymnast in town.

There was an era in gymnastics named the ‘pixie gymnast’ era, that redefined the sport. The tag became mainstream after it got headlined by Romanian gymnast Tatiana Gutsu in 1992.

Likewise, Brazilian gymnast, Flávia Lopes Saraiva, is the smallest competitor, standing at 4’3″. Thus, gymnasts are short as their low center of gravity helps them to leap above the grounds to incredible heights. However, their difference is just a mere fact about the power couple and says nothing about the incredible bond the two lovebirds share.
