2024 has finally commenced and the gymnastics realm is girded up to witness some of the stellar performances of the staunchest gymnasts. It is going to be an exciting season with the thrill of the Paris Olympics present this year. The gymnasts are the embodiment of perfection and will subjugate the events with their talent. However, this year the community will not be blessed with the performances of some of the renowned gymnasts.
Even before the start of the season, some of the gymnasts have already withdrawn their names stating personal concerns. The gymnastics community has faced the loss of at least five gymnasts’ performances in the 2024 season. But what could be the decision behind it?
Gymnasts out of the 2024 gymnastics season

One of the very first names to announce her medical retirement in 2023 was Zoe Gravier. She is a former US elite gymnast and was a national team member in 2020 and polished her skills at Twin City Twisters. She on the 1st of November 2023, took to her Instagram account and shared a bunch of nostalgic gymnastics photos and announced her medical retirement.

Showcasing gratitude, she said, “Thank you. Thank you for the past 15 years, it has been a wild ride”. Along the same lines, another gymnast Aerial Posen also announced her medical retirement even before Gravier on the 6th of August 2023. She penned down a large emotional note on her ravishing gymnastics career. She added her consecutive knee surgeries to be the reason behind her pulling out of the sport.
However, praising her younger self for her achievements she wrote, “Lastly, while it’s definitely not what I expected, I’m excited to see what life without gymnastics mean”. Adding to the list, next is Olivia Greaves who is the 2019 US Junior champion on uneven bars and third in the all-around also has faced an injury affection her performance this season. She is suffering from a hole in her foot. Two other renowned gymnasts have been out for the entire 2024 season due to unfortunate injuries.

Other gymnasts unavailable for the 2024 season
Along with these three, the gymnast on number four who has been out for the entire 2024 gymnastics season is Riley McCusker. She has given terrific performances in various global stages and has left the world stunned. Riley announced her break on Instagram as well. She shared a video of her natural vault and a picture that showcased her leg wrapped in a boot plaster.

Explaining this, she mentioned, “Bummer, too bad you all have to wait until next year to see this”. This was one of the most major disappointments. After her, another graceful gymnast Dana Fletcher is also ruled out of the 2024 season due to a medical injury as well. She on her social media stated, “It sucks to say that my season has ended”. In this post, the former American gymnastics coach Maggie Haney commented on an inspirational quote and added, “You got this”, with a red heart beside it.
