Jordan Chiles hates social media. And quite rightly so, as she has been dealing with a lot of complications from the platform. After winning the bronze medal in Paris, Chiles’ 2024 seemed to be going perfectly. Unfortunately, the moment she was stripped of the honor by the CAS, things started to fall apart. While this was enough trauma, social media only added to her woes. Facing significant trolls, the 23-year-old decided to walk away from social media.

Thankfully, Chiles was gritty enough not to let the somber feeling linger long enough. She soon started to attend MLB games and other events. And maybe she did all these things, particularly to take her mind away from all the negativities thrown at her on social media. Thus, fed up with people constantly perceiving a wrong notion, Chiles has vented out her frustration over the matter. The Olympic champion recently attended the 2024 Black Entrepreneurs Day sponsored by JP Morgan Wealth Management. Conversing with Daymond John at the event, the UCLA Bruins star opened up about her dislike for social media.

Reflecting on the matter, Chiles stated, “I don’t like social media-not one bit. I know it’s my life, I know it’s everything, but I feel like when it comes to social media, people look at you in a way that isn’t authentic to who you are.” The 23-year-old gymnast mentioned how people have a wrong idea of each other on social media. By using their imagination, people often resort to judging others with twisted thoughts.

Chiles is so bothered by all the hate she gets, she even wants to teleport! The Olympian expressed her willingness to travel to each one of the trolls and let them know about their wrong perceptions. “You’re judging them based on a picture, not because of who they are, what they’ve done in their lives, their life stories, their future, or their business,” said Chiles.

Well, the Olympian has also found a way to keep her mental state at bay. Brushing off the negativity, Jordan Chiles focused on her return to UCLA. This was one of the major highlights of her career this year. Ahead of Paris, the Olympic gold medalist announced that she would be going back to her school. Donning her favorite leotard, Chiles will be a student, a mentor, and a guide for all the upcoming Bruins this year. And as much as she dislikes social media, Chiles has matured a lot to know how to deal with the trolls and find peace in a closed group of near and dear ones.

Jordan Chiles Makes A Thought-Provoking Statement Amidst Social Media Attacks

Soon after the Paris fiasco, Chiles was being told some really nasty things. So much so, that the Olympian publicly let everyone know about her disturbed mental health. Taking a break from social media, the 23-year-old took some time to heal. But being the champion that she is, Chiles was right back up. Within a few days’ time, Chiles was back. And she was back with a thought-provoking revelation

Sharing a post from ‘Thirdeyethirst’ on her Instagram, Chiles’ story read, “Maturing is realizing you prefer a quiet life. You don’t chase after friendships or relationships, you’re happy with the few friends you have, no drama, just working on being the best version of yourself, not comparing your life to others, and learning to enjoy your own company instead of relying on others to be happy.” As a matter of fact, Chiles has enough reasons to get angry at social media.

When the CAS asked Chiles to return the medal, the trolls went on a full-blown smear campaign against her. While the Olympian went through mental harassment, the entire fiasco was utterly shocking. Things went so far as the US Gymnastics Committee intervened to lash out at the attacks and confirmed their support for the gymnast. Chiles’ mother and even Ana Barbosu issued statements, citing their support for the 23-year-old. Thus, with things looking to become better for the gymnast, it remains to be seen how she manages to get out of the shadows and come out on the brighter side of life in the future.
