The 2024 season has come to an end, and it displayed epic comebacks, controversies, and many more things that made it a banger for the fans to experience. Out of all the action and drama, currently, the gymnasts are enjoying their life out of the sport in the off-season, which also includes Suni Lee. She had a wonderful gymnastics campaign, and now she is focused on other activities, especially her move to NYC, where recently she was greeted by a surprising company.

So, who did the gymnast meet? It was none other than her fellow Team USA gymnasts, and that too two of her squad members from the “Golden Girls,” who were Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera. To celebrate this surprising reunion, they took full advantage of being in NYC, which was seen on their respective social media handles, as they had a great time together, off the mat.

The “Golden Girls” rocked the stage in Paris when they earned the all-around team gold medal, making millions of Americans proud. Furthermore, they also captured medals in other events. The team was led by none other than Simone Biles, who was proud to have Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera under her wing. After the coveted event, they surely separated to their own paths, but NYC proved to be a surprise reunion spot for the three among the five.

So what’s a meet-up without any pictures? Lee made sure that this reunion stays as a memory of their camaraderie, and she took to her Instagram story with a selfie featuring the three gymnasts in a frame, having goofy reactions. The picture that followed it was a mirror selfie of the three, and it showed their outfit game, which was also on top, like their skills in gymnastics.

Going into the details of their outfit, Rivera, who was on the left of the selfie, was wearing a black top that had a black coat to cover it and also donned blue jeans. Coming to the one who was taking the mirror selfie, Lee was wearing a similar black top with a black blazer combo but had black jeans too. Apart from the clothes, she was also holding a designer purse. On the right was Carey, who was wearing a top and a puffer jacket, followed by blue jeans.

Just taking goofy pictures, outfit checks, and TikTok videos wasn’t enough for the three members of “Golden Girls.” Lee also posted a picture of their dining table. “This & yap>>>,” the 21-year-old wrote in the picture, as she had a fun time with her teammates, apart from the mat. So what exactly were these three doing in NYC? The squad was up for a photoshoot, and also for Lee; she just had relocated to the place.

It was quite a meet-up for all of them after an enthralling gymnastics season. All of them achieved some kind of remarkable accolade in their career and are more determined to compete and give their all in future events. For Lee, it was also a season filled with struggles, as she has been very open about the issues that she had to go through while competing during the Olympic campaign.

Getting emotional over a tough season

Suni Lee turned many heads in Paris, where she earned two Olympic bronze medals, one in the women’s all-around and the other in the women’s uneven bars. However, she wasn’t in her top condition, as since the 2023 season, she has been struggling with various health issues. The 21-year-old had to withdraw from a promising collegiate career and was even diagnosed with two incurable kidney diseases, which left her eyes swollen, and lost 40 lbs in just a span of two weeks. 

It was an absolute nightmare for the gymnast, as all of this stuff took place during the months leading up to the Olympic Games. However, owing to her undeterred mentality, she thrived to train under these conditions and did eventually make it to the podium in the two events. “Being emotional but sitting in my apt thinking about everything I’ve been through this year, and I am SO PROUD OF MYSELF for never giving up,” wrote Lee in her social media caption. She did go through a lot to accomplish even what is just a slight of her full potential, but she is glad that she was able to mark off her bucket list for the season.
