Biles has reached where she is today by dedicating some of the most significant years of her life to her profession. She began training at the age of eight and started her elite career at 14. In an interview in 2021, Biles revealed when and where she feels like her true self.
When Simone Biles feels the most like herself
Biles has experienced her set of highs and lows in her career; at times, she didn’t even feel like herself. She was asked when she felt the most like herself and replied, “Drinking a margarita at a Mexican restaurant.“
The gymnast was not hesitant in revealing her favorite drink. She admitted that, along with being one of the world’s best female gymnasts, she is also a young woman. Like any other person her age, she enjoys spending quality time with her friends and having a good drink.
Simone Biles stressed the importance of balancing all aspects of life, be it work, friends or therapy if needed. Biles is today one of those sportspersons who are also mental health advocates.

Biles admitted that she was reluctant to start with therapy at first. In her first sessions, she didn’t speak much, sometimes anything. She felt like she was in the wrong place. “I just wouldn’t say anything. I was like, ‘I’m not crazy. I don’t need to be here.'” said Biles.

Her therapist then explained that therapy wasn’t for “crazy” people, but for anyone who wanted an outlet for their emotions. Biles soon realized that therapy was her safe place. “I’ve learned it’s okay to ask for help if you need it,” said Biles.
