Born in Columbus, Ohio, 25-year-old Simone Biles needs no introduction. The gymnastic maestro, World Champion, and Olympic gold medalist is one of the world’s most decorated athletes. Despite adversaries, Simone has crafted a legacy too big for her age.

Jumping from one foster home to another, Simone and her siblings had a difficult childhood. The support that the kids were looking for came when Simone’s maternal grandfather adopted her and her sister. Growing a close connection, her grandparents soon took the place of her parents.

Simone Picking skills early

It was through her parent’s support and coach Aimee Boorman’s guidance that Simone started picking up her gymnastic skills. Sharing an incident from her initial professional days, Simone tells how she had perfected her vault skills within a short time.

She was winning the medals and defeating gymnasts older and more experienced than her. It made the other coaches worry; they raised concern, saying“Don’t let her win too fast.” They thought Simone was quickly achieving feats and would soon get burned out.

However, Simone’s parents and her coach held no such views. They were pretty happy with the way Simone was progressing. Even Simone confessed, saying, “There was nothing in me that wanted to stop.” Taking things in control, Simone said, “I enjoyed the feeling that my gymnastics practice was completely my own.”

There’s no alternative to hard work. Simone proved to the world that hard work could help you achieve any goal. Despite being young, Simone kick-started her gymnastics career.

In her book, when Simone writes, “Although the 2012 Olympics were still four years away, I secretly fantasized about going with the team to London.” The readers do get a glimpse of how dedicated Simone was. Sadly, Biles could not make the final cut to London.
